Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), one of the most outspoken proponents of a national mask mandate to stop the spread of the coronavirus, was caught on camera Friday walking through Dulles International Airport without a mask despite Virginia Governor Ralph Northam’s (D) mask order.
On Monday, Fox News Channel’s Tucker Carlson showed viewers photographs of Feinstein in a private terminal — known as an FBO (fixed-base operator) in aviation parlance — in Dulles Airport.
“In the photographs,” Carlson explained, “Feinstein can be seen smiling without a mask on,” while “a pilot with a mask is walking in front of her, carrying a bag and a dog.”
Northam has required all passengers and airline employees to wear face coverings in the airport since May 29.
Feinstein, meanwhile, has sought to impose a nationwide mask mandate, especially in airports.
On June 29, she sent a letter to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) administrator Steve Dickson urging him “to implement a mandatory mask policy for all airport and airline employees and passengers as cases of coronavirus continue to surge.”
“While some transit agencies and airlines have implemented mandatory mask guidance for the public, reports indicate that the patchwork of rules have [sic] only sowed confusion among passengers,” Feinstein wrote.
After showing the pictures of the unmasked senator, Carlson quipped, “One might even say she’s sowing confusion about whether or not masks are necessary” in airports.
Feinstein also issued a press release in July in which she said, “Research shows that masks reduce transmission of the coronavirus. [Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Robert] Redfield said this surge in COVID-19 cases could end within two months if we adopt ‘universal masking.’ … So why doesn’t the United States have a national mask mandate?”
So serious was she about this matter that she pledged to offer an amendment to the next coronavirus relief bill “to prohibit sending funds to states that haven’t adopted a statewide mask requirement.”
“Wearing masks in public should be mandatory. Period,” she declared, saying it was “a matter of life or death.”
It would appear, however, that Feinstein doesn’t really believe that. At 87 years old, she is among those at the highest risk of death from COVID-19, yet she couldn’t be bothered to mask up while in a public place in which a fellow Democrat has, in accordance with Feinstein’s professed wishes, ordered people to cover their faces.
Feinstein’s office did not respond to Carlson’s request for comment on the photos. But, he said, “We can be sure of one thing: This isn’t really Dianne Feinstein’s fault. Just like when the hair salon framed [House Speaker] Nancy Pelosi, caught not wearing a mask while getting her hair done, Dulles Airport — the diabolical FBO — probably masterminded the whole thing.”
Indeed, Feinstein’s faux pas is just the latest in a long line of incidents in which proponents and perpetrators of coronavirus tyranny have been caught violating their own rules. From Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s lockdown-era haircut to CNN’s Chris Cuomo’s visiting a vacant lot while supposedly under quarantine to numerous potentates’ turning a blind eye to — or even participating in — Black Lives Matter protests while banning other large gatherings, the hypocrisy of the COVID commandants knows no bounds.
While Feinstein undoubtedly considers Carlson’s report an attack on her character, she can rest assured that he’s doing everything in his power to vindicate her. “We’re going to stay on top of this story,” he told viewers, “and bring you more evidence of the airport’s guilt as we inevitably find it.”
