Tom Homan, former acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, will be the Trump administration’s Border Czar.
President-elect Donald Trump delivered the news on Truth Social.
Homan is famous for his advocacy of zero tolerance for illegal immigration, and has frequently clashed with far-left open-borders members of Congress.
Homan’s main job: implementing Trump’s vow to conduct the “largest domestic deportation operation in American history.”
Open Borders to Close
Homan’s portfolio is unclear. Trump didn’t say whether he would become ICE director or even take a Cabinet position as secretary of Homeland Security.
But Trump did make clear that Homan was in charge of the nation’s borders — from sea to shining sea, from Mexico to Canada.
Homan will be “in charge of our Nation’s Borders (‘The Border Czar’), including, but not limited to, the Southern Border, the Northern Border, all Maritime, and Aviation Security,” Trump wrote:
I’ve known Tom for a long time, and there is nobody better at policing and controlling our Borders. Likewise, Tom Homan will be in charge of all Deportation of Illegal Aliens back to their Country of Origin. Congratulations to Tom. I have no doubt he will do a fantastic, and long awaited for, job.
That job will entail deporting millions of illegal aliens the Biden administration released into the country, including hundreds of thousands of dangerous criminals, and possibly, the so-called migrants that Biden unlawfully permitted to enter the country, sometimes by direct flights.
No More Amnesty
Homan will also end the “quiet amnesty” that the Biden administration unlawfully created to keep millions of illegals in the country. Also terminated will be Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas’ unlawful no-deportation policy.
Homan, who has warned the illegals whom Biden released, “don’t get too comfortable,” is famous for schooling not only far-left media shills for open borders but also far-left open-borders congresswomen.
“Is there a way to carry out mass deportation without separating families?” 60 Minutes correspondent Cecilia Vega recently asked Homan.
“Of course there is,” he replied. “Families can be deported together.”
During a congressional hearing, he taught open-borders Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) a lesson about the law.
AOC, as she is known, told Homan that “zero tolerance” was the policy that caused so-called family separation at the border, whereby children were taken from parents to keep the children safe.
Replied Homan, “If I get arrested for DUI and I have a young child in a car, I’m going to be separated,” he said. When he was a cop in New York, he said, if he arrested a father for domestic violence, he separated the father from his family.
“With all due respect,” Ocasio-Cortez replied, “legal asylees are not charged with any crime.”
Homan: When you enter the country illegally it’s a violation of 8 United States Code 1325.
Ocasio Cortez: Seeking asylum is legal.
Homan: When you want to seek asylum, you go to a port of entry and do it the legal way. The attorney general of the United States has made that clear.
GOP Convention Speech
Speaking at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee in July, Homan warned illegals to leave the country or face deportation.
“I’ve worked for six presidents, starting with Ronald Reagan,” Homan said. “Every president I’ve worked for said they’re going to secure the border. President Trump actually did it. He created the most secure border in our history, and that’s a stone-cold fact.”
Homan said Trump decreased illegal immigration by 90 percent, “the lowest level in 35 years.” Deportations rose to the highest level ever, “including historic numbers of illegal alien gang members and criminals.”
He noted that Biden opened the borders, stopped deportations, canceled Remain in Mexico, and restarted catch-and-release.
“They proposed amnesty for millions along with free health care,” Homan said. This, he added, led to never-before-seen illegal immigration, record numbers of sex-trafficked women and children and Americans dead from fentanyl, and a record number of terror suspects crossing the border.
“This isn’t mismanagement,” he said. “This isn’t incompetence. This is by design.… It’s national suicide”
The “madness,” he warned, ends when Trump is elected president, closing with a dire warning for the illegals whom Biden unlawfully released: “You better start packing now … because you’re going home.”
Continued Homan:
I got another message. Another message to the criminal cartels in Mexico. You [sold] enough fentanyl across this country to kill 148,000 young Americans. You have killed more Americans than every terrorist organization in the world combined. And that’s when President Trump gets back in office, he’s going to designate you a terrorist organization, and he’s going to wipe you off the face of the earth. You’re done. You’re done.
Trump will “make America safe again,” Homan said, “and you can take that to the bank.”
Homan recently warned sanctuary cities and states the illegals would be deported with or without the help of state and local authorities.
