The Biden administration has sent out an “invitation” for migrants to illegally cross over into the United States of America. That’s what Texas’ Medina County Sheriff Randy Brown told Elon Musk Thursday when the electric vehicle mogul visited the southern border at Eagle Pass to see for himself what the real story is.

“It’s not that complicated to close the border, anybody will tell you that,” Sheriff Brown said.

Texas State Rep. Tony Gonzales spent the most time briefing Musk on the border crisis.

“We are seeing historic numbers, 11,000 people coming over daily,” Gonzales told Musk, saying that about 2,000 illegals were crossing over just in that one location. Musk took Gonzales’ number of 2,000 a day and multiplied it over a year’s time, noting the total would come out to be more than the population of an entire U.S. state, citing Wyoming specifically. The number of illegals crossing at all points is “in the millions,” Gonzales added — and that’s just the ones that are known, the actual number being much higher.

Gonzales also pointed out to Musk that it’s not just Mexicans coming across the border, but people from all over the world.

“This is an open border to 8 billion people,” Musk reiterated.

Gonzales said that the Biden White House has been the only administration that hasn’t sent people back.

“Zero repatriation,” Musk summarized. “This is insane.”

Eventually, the illegals who are caught are released onto the streets.

“Eagle Pass is a city of 28,000 people, we’ve had over 19,000 people in the last ten days. We don’t have the resources,” said Eagle Pass Mayor Rolando Salinas Jr. The mayor said there is only one hospital in Eagle Pass, and citizens can’t get medical care because the staff are treating the illegals.

The state legislator also told Musk that some of the illegals are fleeing the law in their native country. He mentioned one Venezuelan who was detained after crossing, saying the young man’s face and neck are covered in tattoos, including the kind indicating that he’s killed people. The Border Patrol chief told him that they don’t have access to criminal records of people from Venezuela.

Gonzales reiterated that this is a massive problem, yet there is no solution being implemented.

The government’s own records show a steep increase in border encounters since Joe Biden began occupying the White House. During fiscal year 2020, Border Patrol recorded 646K encounters. By the next year, that number had almost tripled, to just under 2 million. And with every passing year, the number of encounters only increases.
