Cartel terrorists fired gunshots at Border Patrol agents yesterday in Texas, five days after they shot and robbed an American hiker in San Diego County, California.

The terrorists attacked a week after President Donald Trump declared the drug- and human-smuggling cartels terrorist organizations.

After the attack on border agents, Tom Homan, acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, said that the “whole government” will destroy them, and “they will not go lightly.”

Gunfire Exchanged

The terrorists exchanged gunfire with the agents at about 2 p.m. near Fronton, Texas, Fox News reported:

A group of illegal aliens was attempting to cross the Rio Grande while bullets were fired, but did not make it across. Neither the Border Patrol agents nor the suspected cartel members were hit.…

The area where the gunfire exchange took place is near Fronton Island, also unofficially known as “Cartel Island” due to the criminal activity there. In an interview with Fox News Digital in 2023, Commissioner Dawn Buckingham said that she declared the land as Texas territory — even though it had not officially been before — to grant law enforcement the right to patrol there.

Appearing on Sean Hannity’s Fox program, Homan said the days of the terror cartels were numbered.

“It’s going to get worse,” he said, “because President Trump is going to seal that border. He’s going to put the cartels out of business.”

“The whole of government is going to dismantle these people and wipe them off the face of the earth,” he continued. “They are not going to go lightly”:

We are taking them on in the trafficking business, we’re taking them on in the smuggling business and we’re taking them on in the dope business.

There’s going to be more violence on the southwest border.… That’s why the entire United States government is going to take care of those people and abolish them.

Homan also warned that the war against the terrorists would go beyond wiping them out in Mexico. The conflict will include “the 42 countries the Jalisco Cartel is currently residing in.”

Concluded Homan:

The Trump administration is going to take them on, just like he did the Caliphate, and we’re going to destroy them.

Jalisco Cartel

The Jalisco Cartel, also known by the Spanish acronym CJNG (Cártel de Jalisco Nueva Generación, “Jalisco New Generation Cartel”), operates out of the Mexican state of Jalisco and is infamous for using “extreme violence,” InsightCrime reports.

After it grew out of another cartel, murders, kidnapping, and mass graves “spiked in Jalisco,” a Mexican state on the nation’s Pacific coast. In 2011, the cartel massacred almost three dozen rival gang members.

“In April 2015, the CJNG killed 15 Mexican police officers during an ambush in Jalisco, one of the single deadliest attacks on security forces in modern Mexican history,” the website reported. The terrorists possess military weapons such as machine guns and rocket-propelled grenades. In May 2015, they shot down a military helicopter.

After the gun battle in Texas, Fox News’s Bill Melugin reported that the Texas Department of Public Safety was patrolling the area with drones, which spotted “Mexican military assets now staging on the other side of the river.”

TPS spokesman Chris Oliverez posted video of the gunman, one of whom appeared to aim his weapon at the drone. TPS dispatched its agents to assist the Border Patrol.

Terrorists Attack an American — in America

Three days after Trump declared the cartels terrorists, they apparently attempted to lure a group of hikers to their death in the Jacumba Wilderness on the border with Mexico.

“Two of the hikers, one U.S. citizen and one Canadian citizen, were approached by two armed individuals and were commanded to come toward the armed men,” U.S. Custom and Border Patrol reported

The hikers refused, and the terrorist fired at them and hit the American in the leg. The terrorists stole their cellphones and backpacks.

“Cartels think they can bring their war to American soil,” El Centro Border Sector Chief Greg Bovino wrote on X. “Think again!”

Bovino told the Border Report that the shooters hit the victim twice. “Cartel terrorists have no place in our country preying on the innocent,” he continued. “Enough is Enough.”

The Jacumba Wilderness is in San Diego County. County supervisors recently voted for a measure to forbid the county from cooperating with ICE on mass deportations.

“Immigration enforcement is a federal responsibility, and our county will not be a tool for policies that hurt our residents,” said far-left board chieftain Nora Vargas, who proposed the insurrectionary measure.

Sheriff Kelly Martinez said her department “will not change its practices based on the Board resolution and policy.” The supervisors do “not set policy for the Sheriff’s Office,” she explained.

State law, a news release from the department said, permits the state to share information about illegal-alien criminals with ICE.

“Good for Sheriff Kelly Martinez for being on the right side of history with President Trump,” Homan said.

San Diego County is among the jurisdictions that have said they will not cooperate with ICE on mass deportation of illegal aliens.
