Yet another far-left, hate-Trump Democrat is no longer a far-left, hate-Trump Democrat. Now, she has become what she calls “independent and unaligned.” Ana Kasparian, the Young Turks star, departed the fetid, fever swamps of the Left because of the reaction she received when she described a sexual assault on the streets of once-safe Los Angeles.
Kasparian disclosed her exit at her Substack on September 30, and in a recent, gone-viral interview.
Yet Kasparian is only one of a number of high-profile leftists who have abandoned their former allies, with some, such as Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., signing on to the presidential campaign of former President Donald Trump.
In the Substack post, Kasparian admitted to being “fully on board” with the hate-Trump “mindset,” and “felt righteous.”
But “the tactics deployed to fight Trump became repetitive, boring and ultimately fruitless,” she wrote:
Polling shows that he has increased his support among Black and Latino voters despite wall-to-wall coverage on his unsavory, racist or bigoted remarks. Several years of media raising alarm over Trump’s threat to democracy has only resulted in a tight presidential race between himself and Kamala Harris.
I can’t help but acknowledge that the only thing that was accomplished by resisting Trump was less understanding and more division among Americans. I personally became reluctant to challenge my “side” or engage with voters who disagreed with me. In turn, I became less knowledgeable about the people and world around me. I saw Republican voters as an evil monolith and that was a big mistake.
But the defining moment for Kasparian wasn’t introspection. Rather, a homeless man sexually assaulted Kasparian in 2022 in the City of Angels. The reaction on the Left from her revealing the attack told her that she was on the wrong side.
“I was told that by publicly sharing what had happened to me, I was stigmatizing my ‘unhoused neighbors,’” she wrote:
Others accused me of feeding into racist tropes because they assumed that my attacker was black. But I had never even disclosed the man’s race.
He was white.
That “cruelty” and “hypocrisy,” she continued, showed that those “terrible traits” were not the exclusive preserve of Trump or Republicans. And she confessed, “I was stupid for ever thinking that was the case.”
Will Never Apologize
Another moment that pushed Kasparian away from the radical Left was the lunatic reaction to a tweet in March 2023.
“I’m a woman,” she wrote:
Please don’t ever refer to me as a person with a uterus, birthing person, or person who menstruates. How do people not realize how degrading this is? You can support the transgender community without doing this sh*t.
“All hell broke loose after I posted those words,” she wrote. The Two Minutes Hate began.
So unhinged was the reaction that a YouTube channel posted five videos on the tweet, and “[t]hey even went as far as drawing a link between my tweet and trans suicides, which sadly wasn’t the most unhinged outcome of the debacle,” she continued:
I never apologized for the tweet and I never will.
That whole experience forced me to come to terms with the intolerance on the left and it allowed me to publicly reject the ideological shackles that kept my world small and less informed.
Today I’m less certain and more curious than I was four years ago. I’ve made humiliating mistakes while covering political news because I was previously unwilling to consider or understand the perspective of Americans who vote differently from me.
Keeping It Real
Kasparian described the sex assault in detail on the Keeping It Real podcast with Jillian Michaels. Michaels also confessed her discomfort with the radical Left.
Kasparian explained that she was bent over cleaning up after her dog when one of two homeless men approached her from behind, grabbed her hips, and began “humping” her.
The terrified Kasparian said she had no way to defend herself. Laughing at her, the men let her go.
But again, the reaction from her leftist pals, who, again, called her a racist, “woke me up, cuz I’m like oh my God they eat their own.”
Other Defections
Kasparian is not alone in saying enough is enough.
Kennedy dropped out of the presidential race and endorsed Trump. But before that, his family roasted him for running an independent campaign against Joe Biden. They called him “dangerous to our country,” and said he didn’t “share the same values, vision, or judgment” as their father, who was murdered by assassin Sirhan Sirhan in 1968.
When Kennedy endorsed Trump, the family said he betrayed his father.
Another high-profile defector is former Democrat Tulsi Gabbard. She fled the party because far-left, ant-white, globalist kooks control it. Gabbard, too, endorsed Trump.
“I can no longer remain in today’s Democratic Party that is now under the complete control of an elitist cabal of warmongers driven by cowardly wokeness, who divide us by racializing every issue & stoking anti-white racism, who actively work to undermine our God-given freedoms that are enshrined in our Constitution,” she said.
Hostile to religious people, the party demonizes police, she said, advocates open borders, uses the national security state to “go after political opponents,” and “above all, [is] dragging us ever closer to nuclear war.”
Another high-profile liberal fed up with Biden and Democrats is Sopranos star Drea de Matteo. She told Donald Trump, Jr. on his Triggered podcast that many Hollywood liberals think as she does but are terrified to speak out. Careers, after all, could end.
De Matteo, who reposts conservative material at her X feed, backs Kennedy’s move to Trump. And she too, she says, is fed up with the woke agenda of the Democrat Party. She also sports a red hat bearing the words, “Close The Border You Moron.”
