At least they’re consistent. The climate police of the United Nations, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), is again warning of impending planetary doom owing to so-called climate change. This time, they’ve given us 12 years to cede control of our nations and allow them to “fix” the situation.
The tactics of the climate alarmists never change. This is just the latest in a series of “tipping point” warnings issued not only by the IPCC, but others as well.
Some of the “tipping points” from the past include:
• In 2009, Prince Charles told us we had only 100 months to “avoid bequeathing a poisoned chalice to our children and grandchildren.” When that 100 months expired last summer, Charles extended the “tipping point” out to the year 2050.
• Al Gore issued a 10-year tipping point in 2006 and again in 2008.
• Penn State Professor Michael Mann, creator of the widely discredited “Hockey Stick Graph,” was the source of Al Gore’s claims, yet now claims the year 2036 is the new deadline.
In its brand new 728-page report, the IPCC outlines the various tragedies we can expect in the ambiguous “near future” should we, as a species, fail to heed their word. The new report blows the 2015 Paris Climate Accords out of the water, as that agreement looked to hold global temperature increase to 2 degrees Celsius with nations engaging in voluntary climate-control measures. The new report calls for extreme actions to limit planet-wide temperature increase to a maximum of 1.5 degrees Celsius, with an eye toward holding it to .9 degrees Celsius.
Good thing NASA told us last week that the sun might be entering a cooling phase. We’d never make it otherwise.
Should the people of Earth succeed in keeping global temperature increase to .9 degrees Celsius, some very bad things may not happen. According to the new IPCC report, only half as many people on the planet will suffer from a lack of water; fewer deaths and illnesses would occur from heat, smog, and infectious diseases; there will be far fewer droughts, heatwaves, and downpours, such as the ones associated with Hurricanes Harvey and Florence; the West Antarctic Ice Shelf may not melt away; and we might yet save the coral reefs of the planet.
But to make these wonderful things happen, mankind must immediately and drastically change its ways. Reliance on fossil fuels must come to an end soon, according to the report. “For some people this is a life or death situation without a doubt,” said one of the report’s lead authors Natalie Mahowald of Cornell University.
Carbon-credit salesman Al Gore was quick to chime in with a statement: “Today the world’s leading scientific experts collectively reinforced what Mother Nature has made clear — that we need to undergo an urgent and rapid transformation to a global clean energy economy.”
Gore’s statement went on to say, “The report will encourage the development of new technologies, which is important. However, time is running out, so we must capitalize and build upon the solutions available today.” You mean like carbon-credit scams, Mr. Gore?
Among the crazier suggestions to limit fossil-fuel usage, the report calls for a rather steep gasoline tax by the year 2100. The suggested tax works out to $27,000 per ton of CO2 released. If that doesn’t sound insane enough for you, it works out to $240 per gallon of gas purchased. (Even the U.S. EPA calculates that burning one gallon of gasoline leads to the creation of nearly 20 pounds of CO2 — the gaseous releases weigh more than the gasoline itself because of the weight of the oxygen that combines with the carbon released by burning the fuel.) But that’s in the year 2100, more than 80 years from now. By 2030, that tax will only have to be about $5,500 per ton — a mere $49 per gallon.
The report looks to places such as California and Europe for inspiration on future world-wide action, mentioning mandating green-energy solutions, cap and trade, and, of course, carbon taxes. “While the price of carbon is central to prompt mitigation pathways compatible with 1.5 [degrees Celsius]-consistent pathways, a complimentary mix of stringent policies is required.”
The IPCC report claims that the, “price of carbon would need to increase significantly when a higher level of stringency is pursued.”
A recent audit by Dr. John McLean has shown that much of the data used by the IPCC to come up with this report is seriously flawed. The New American covers the erroneous data situation here. Since the IPCC used that flawed data to produce this report, there’s a very good chance that its conclusions are faulty as well.
The UN wants us to believe that the IPCC is a group of scientists who do nothing but study the climate and provide honest recommendations about how to logically and best proceed on those issues. But, although it employs scientists, the IPCC is a political organization. The scientists on its payroll are not independent of the agenda of the IPCC. And the agenda of the IPCC is the same agenda of the UN: a one-world government, hence why the bid for wordwide controls over all human behaviors.
The timing of the report was calculated, as all political things are. The doom-and-gloom document was released a month before the U.S. midterms, giving leftist candidates time to use it on the stump, while, at the same time, any reports debunking the junk science will be buried by a complicit media.
Don’t fall for the scare tactics. This science is sufficiently connected to a political organization and agenda to be essentially worthless.
