No sooner had Pope Francis promoted the hate-Trump, pro-homosexual bishop of San Diego to archbishop of the Washington, D.C., diocese than the “Vatican,” as news reports say, OK’d open homosexuals to become priests in Italy.
First Robert McEloy — widely known as a heretic — takes over the most visible and important diocese in the nation. Now this.
Open homosexuals have long been forbidden from entering the priesthood, which hasn’t stopped the closeted variety from joining, then embarking on a rape wave of unprecedented proportion.
The move ignores 15-year-old Vatican instructions that forbid the ordination of homosexuals because of their objectively disordered desires.
The day before, Pope Francis again denounced young Catholics who love the Traditional Latin Mass. They are cranks and fussbudgets, he said, who must get with the times.
HomoPriests
The Italian Bishops’ Conference published the document last week, the far-left, pro-homosexual National Catholic Reporter reported. The Vatican immediately and not surprisingly OK’d it.
“In the formative process, when referring to homosexual tendencies, it’s also appropriate not to reduce discernment only to this aspect, but, as for every candidate, to grasp its meaning in the global framework of the young person’s personality,” the document says.
“The Vatican department for clergy approved the document, which will be valid for three years. The document was signed by the head of the Italian bishops, Cardinal Matteo Zuppi, who is considered a close collaborator to Pope Francis,” the website continued:
The objective of the preparation for a candidate who is seeking to become a priest when it comes to his sexuality, the document states, “is the ability to accept as a gift, to freely choose and to live chastity in celibacy in a responsible way.”
The document, titled “The Formation of Presbyters in Italian Churches. Guidelines and Rules for Seminaries,” was approved by the Italian bishops who met for their general assembly Nov. 13-16 in Assisi. The episcopacy in Italy, where vocations are at an all-time low, has been pushing the envelope in terms of making the Catholic Church more palatable to modern concerns by suggesting a greater role for women in the formation of priests, a commitment to combating sexual abuse and the acceptance of gay men to the priesthood.
A glance at Zuppi suggests that he might be a little light in the loafers. In 2022, he was fingered for permitting the blessing of a homosexual couple at the church of San Lorenzo di Budrio.
That aside, the problem for the bishops was getting around 2005’s very clear instruction on priestly formation.
In light of church teaching that homosexual acts are gravely sinful and always disordered, the instruction says, “that the Church, while profoundly respecting the persons in question, cannot admit to the seminary or to holy orders those who practise homosexuality, present deep-seated homosexual tendencies or support the so-called ‘gay culture.’”
One reason:
Such persons, in fact, find themselves in a situation that gravely hinders them from relating correctly to men and women. One must in no way overlook the negative consequences that can derive from the ordination of persons with deep-seated homosexual tendencies.
“Same Standard of Chastity”
The Italian bishops acknowledged that instruction, the Reporter explained. But they suggest “that other aspects be taken into account when considering the acceptance of gay candidates to the priesthood. While being openly gay no longer automatically bars a candidate from becoming a priest, such candidates are still held to the same standard of chastity as heterosexual priests are.”
Given the many crimes homosexual priests have committed, it remains to be seen whether they can hold “to the same standard of chastity as heterosexual priests.”
The all-male priesthood is, after all, a target-rich environment for the homosexual. That became apparent when the homosexual rape scandal, covered up by pro-homosexual bishops — some of them homosexuals themselves — surfaced years ago.
The most egregious case was that of former Cardinal Theodore McCarrick, who rose through the ranks to become the top Catholic clergyman in the United States despite years of abusing seminarians and raping boys.
As The New American reported yesterday in its story about McElroy, a fast friend of the Lavender Mafia, myriad bishops were outed as homosexuals years ago. One of them was McElroy’s professor, Wilton Gregory.
TLM Catholics Are Rigid, Backward
Yet even as Italian bishops OK’d sodomites in the collar, Pope Francis again condemned those who like the Traditional Latin Mass, LifeSite News reported. It was the norm before the revolution instituted at the Second Vatican Council watered down the Mass said by the great saints of the Church.
“From a sociological point of view, it is interesting to consider the phenomenon of traditionalism, this ‘backwardism’ that regularly returns each century, this reference to a supposed perfect age that each time is another age,” the pontiff wrote in his new memoir Hope.
“It is unhealthy for the liturgy to become ideology,” Pope Francis wrote, LifeSite reported.
“It is curious to see this fascination for what is not understood, for what appears somewhat hidden, and seems also at times to interest the younger generations,” he continued.
Young people who love the old Mass succumbed to “rigidity,” and even worse, to “ecclesiastic … individualism” and “sectarian worldliness.”
If that weren’t enough, he accused traditional Catholics of being crazy, LifeSite reported:
These ways of dressing up sometimes conceal mental imbalance, emotional deviation, behavioral difficulties, a personal problem that may be exploited.
In 2019, Pope Francis permitted the worship of a pagan idol in the church of Santa Maria in Traspontina. A Catholic activist threw it in the Tiber.
Writing in the latest print edition of The New American, the magazine’s Bill Jasper asks an important question: “Is the pope a communist?”
