Paterson, New Jersey, has quite a history. Founded as a planned industrial city in 1792, it was named after William Paterson, a signatory to the Constitution and a Garden State governor. Like so many American municipalities, it had a Main Street, too.
Had, that is, because it’s now “Palestine Way” — thus officially renamed in 2022.
If it seems odd that the street is officially named after a place that doesn’t officially exist, perhaps Mayor Andre Sayegh can explain. After all, Sayegh, Paterson’s first Arab head, declared the city the “capital of Palestine” earlier this month.
But is this surprising? Paterson reportedly has one of the highest per capita Muslim populations among American cities, and politicians play to their audience.
And does any of this matter?
For an answer, just ask the old-line Democrats of Hamtramck, Michigan (if you can catch them during an honest moment.) That city, now majority Muslim, became in 2021 the first American municipality in which every elected official is Islamic. This change involved the ouster of Hamtramck’s traditional Democrats, who possibly no longer chant “Our strength lies in our diversity!” After all, they ended up being diversified right out of a cherished agenda.
That is, the Muslim government wasted no time prohibiting the display of the “LGBTQ” rainbow “Pride” flag on city property.
Does any of this matter?
Dr. Mudar Zahran, a Jordanian Opposition Coalition leader currently living in Great Britain, certainly may think so. Just consider how Zahran, a self-professed practicing Muslim, has characterized the phenomenon of mass Islamic migration into Europe. It is “the soft Islamic conquest of the West,” he warned in a 2015 interview.
A Decade — and a Thousand Moons Ago?
Of course, maybe practicing-Muslim Zahran is just another “Islamophobe.” And, anyway, that was 2015 — things change. According to a Monday report, an elementary school in Hamburg, Germany, lists only Muslim holidays on its calendar. Christmas and Easter are nowhere to be found. But it’s all part of a progression. In the past, some German primary schools and day care centers renamed a traditional Christian festival to avoid “offending” Islamic newcomers. Around the same time (2015), a Protestant German church removed its Christian crosses to accommodate Muslim migrants it was housing.
A bit farther West, though, one man went even further. French “intellectual” Christian de Moliner suggested in 2017 that France be divided — to avoid “civil war” with its Muslims. Perhaps he wanted to trade some cheese and wine for “peace for our time” (because appeasement always works so well).
So, is all this why German ex-intelligence chief Hans-Georg Maaßen said last year that, thanks to the pseudo-elites, “Europe will succumb to Islam”? For sure. But will it?
Patriot Neighbors newsletter founder Robin M. Itzler certainly thinks so. In fact, she warns, if you want to enjoy sightseeing in European Europe, you’d better go now.
It’s Later Than You Think?
Itzler gets credit for delivering the earlier information about Paterson, NJ. And as she wrote Thursday in “Islam Is Destroying Western Culture Here and Abroad”:
If you wish to experience Europe with all its unique nations, hurry because the entire continent is rapidly changing due to (legal and illegal) unchecked Islamic immigration, demographic shifts, and political pandering. Even with no future immigration, Muslims in Europe will increase their population. They are giving birth at a much higher rate than non-Muslims: 2.6 children compared to 1.6 children. It doesn’t take a mathematician to see where this goes.
In 2006, Muammar Gaddafi said:
We have 50 million Muslims in Europe. There are signs that Allah will grant Islam victory in Europe — without swords, without guns, without conquest — will turn it into a Muslim continent within a few decades.
Most European leadership is blind to what is happening — or doesn’t care.
If you visit Europe, be sure you know where you are walking. The Migration Research Institute in Budapest, which is affiliated with the renowned Matthias Corvinus College, estimated in 2024 that there are 900 NO-GO ZONES across Europe. This is the result of Europe’s open-border policies that brought in an influx of Muslims who do not wish to assimilate into their adopted homeland. Instead, they want their adopted homeland to become an Islamic “Sharia paradise.”
There’s much more in Itzler’s article, too. Among other things, she mentions how Europeans complaining about foreign cultures supplanting their own may be charged with “hate speech.” I’ve also written much on the subject, such as here, here, here, here, here, here, and here. But then there’s the deeper issue.
Immigration Dogma
Certainly, what’s discussed above isn’t the first time immigration has changed a Western nation. We wouldn’t have Oktoberfest, St. Patrick’s Day parades, or our multitude of exotic restaurants without past immigration. Many will, too, point to the positive impact past foreign influxes have had. Why, even conservatives may applaud the tamping down of the sexual devolutionary agenda in Hamtramck. Yet an important question arises:
Is immigration, as the immigrationists would have us believe, always necessary and good? Is it, as the man-as-cog-in-the-machinery types would have us believe, just a matter of economics? Are immigrants robots that merely serve a workaday-world function?
Or does the type of immigration matter?
Certainly, if we pondered taking a boarder into our home (our small-scale nation), we’d consider his character. We’d consider what kind of a person he is, and what he believes. What are his habits? What kind of influence would he have on our children? Will he fit in? How “assimilable” is he?
Should it be any different with our national family? Should we admit into our larger home a person we’d be reluctant to admit into our personal one? Because we do — all the time.
Assimilation — or Subsumption?
Yet there’s still more to it. We must ask not just how assimilable a group is, but also: Are we demanding assimilation? And then, here’s a question virtually never posed:
Do we provide much that’s attractive to assimilate into?
With multiculturalism permeating thinking today, the answer to the second-to-last question is no. As to the last one, what can we say, in essence, to the foreigner?
“Come participate in a ‘Pride’ parade (you don’t even have to wear much clothing!)”?
“Don’t worry about your kids getting bored — the library is hosting a Drag Queen Story Hour this weekend”?
Is our entertainment, as highly sexualized, violent, and vulgar as it is, something to tout?
None of this is to say the West doesn’t have manifold glories to hang its hat on. Only, those triumphs, largely of the past, are continually impugned by the culture destroyers, as they slam the Founding Fathers, deride our history and heroes, and tear down our institutions and (sometimes) statues.
So the message to foreigners is: Come join us — we really stink. We can have fun together scuttling what our ancestors have built up and then numb ourselves with popular-culture fare, the real opiate of the masses.
The reality is that the aforementioned is the conversation about immigration we should have — and would have — were we serious.
It’s also why commentator Tucker Carlson recently said we must halt all immigration for 30-40 years — until unity is restored. Sound like a good idea?
Or is this, again, something we can’t or won’t talk about?
