Most Americans probably haven’t noticed, but the war on biological science goes well beyond the “transgender madness” that is not only making public libraries unsafe for kids but also subverting the English language. Forget about Drag Queen Story Hour and “preferred pronouns.”
The leftist media now report about “pregnant people,” apropos of the preposterous idea that men can be pregnant.
The Centers for Disease Control has been using the terms for some time. Leftist broadcast networks followed suit, and so did the Washington Post. The New York Times does not appear to have surrendered, but give the Old Grey Lady, or Old Gray Person, time. Ditto for government agencies that aren’t up to speed.
Understandably, not everyone’s happy about the insidious attack on science and language, including former U.S. Representative Tulsi Gabbard, a Democrat who’s a far-out right-winger compared to the rest of her party.
CDC Release
The same people pushing everyone to get the China Virus jab are also pushing the bogus science.
“Pregnant and Recently Pregnant People At Increased Risk for Severe Illness from COVID-19,” the health agency reported in August.
It pounded home the pregnant people propaganda in a fact box:
• Although the overall risk of severe illness is low, pregnant people and recently pregnant people are at an increased risk for severe illness from COVID-19 when compared to non-pregnant people.
• Having certain underlying medical conditions, and other factors, including age, can further increase a pregnant or recently pregnant (for at least 42 days following end of pregnancy) person’s risk for developing severe COVID-19 illness.
• Pregnant people with COVID-19 are also at increased risk for preterm birth (delivering the baby earlier than 37 weeks) and might be at increased risk for other poor pregnancy outcomes.
• Pregnant and recently pregnant people and those who live with or visit them need to take steps to protect themselves from getting sick with COVID-19.
“Can Men Get Pregnant” the Healthline website asked. Why yes, they can, answered the “queer, nonbinary writer.”
“Yes, it’s possible for men to become pregnant and give birth to children of their own,” he wrote:
In fact, it’s probably a lot more common than you might think. In order to explain, we’ll need to break down some common misconceptions about how we understand the term “man.” Not all people who were assigned male at birth (AMAB) identify as men. Those who do are “cisgender” men. Conversely, some people who were assigned female at birth (AFAB) identify as men. These folks may be “transgender” men or transmasculine people.
Mainstream Media
Actually, it’s not “a lot more common than you might think,” but in any case, the leftist media has dutifully complied with the latest mandate to mangle the language.
“CDC guidance now official: Pregnant people should get coronavirus vaccine,” the Post headlined a story after the CDC’s warning. The story slipped and used “pregnant women” a few times, but the subversive neologism made it into print.
An opinion piece used the term, as did stories appearing at the websites of the three major networks.
“Less than a quarter of pregnant people have received at least one dose of a vaccine, according to the CDC,” NBC News reported.
Reporting last week on an agency alert, CBS News warned readers that “CDC ‘strongly recommends’ COVID-19 vaccine for pregnant people.”
“The CDC says there have been more than 125,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in pregnant people, including more than 22,000 who were hospitalized, and 161 deaths,” the network reported.
ABC News followed with the story that upset Gabbard. “Families speak out as COVID-19 delta variant proves dangerous for pregnant people,” the network reported. It too peddled the “pregnant people” message:
Pregnant people infected with the delta variant are more likely to have severe COVID-19 cases, and the variant leads to even worse outcomes for unvaccinated pregnant people, according to research published in the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, a medical journal.
Nearly two dozen pregnant people died of COVID-19 in August alone, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Currently, only 31% of pregnant people in the U.S. have been vaccinated against the virus, and that number drops down to 15% for Black pregnant people, according to the CDC.
The agency last week issued an “urgent health advisory” calling on pregnant people and people who were recently pregnant or are trying to get pregnant to get vaccinated against COVID-19, noting the virus causes a two-fold risk of admission into intensive care and a 70% increased risk of death for pregnant people.
Just yesterday, CDC tweeted about “pregnant people” and mental health.
Tulsi Furious
Understandably, Gabbard, one of the last sane elected Democrats, was none too happy about it.
“Pregnant PEOPLE? Read that headline again,” the she tweeted:
Some hate women so much that they literally want to erase even the word “woman” from our vocabulary.
Replied one of her followers, “So since the rules say we must use pregnant people when talking about pregnancy, I vote we change Mother’s day to Person’s Day. That’s how it works right.”
