Kneeling while the National Anthem was played has earned former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick a lucrative contract from Nike — a corporation run by liberal activists — and he has opted to use his new-found wealth to support abortion “rights.”
First off, Kaepernick has given $25,000 to the Center for Reproductive Rights, a strongly pro-abortion group that once held a celebration of the millions of unborn children killed by abortion since the infamous Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision in 1973, upon its 40th anniversary. The celebration was dubbed “Happy 40th Anniversary, Baby.” Of course, none of the millions of babies slaughtered in those 40 years is alive today to join in the celebration.
Kaepernick has given another $25,000 to the Lower East Side Girls Club. Part of those funds will finance a trip for young girls to attend the pro-porn Teen Vogue Summit. Teen Vogue has been described as a “soft porn” magazine that promotes abortion and Planned Parenthood.
Some have attempted to downplay certain aspects of Kaepernick’s radicalism, such as his open support for the late Cuban communist dictator Fidel Castro. When Kaepernick argues that his kneeling protests were only designed to draw attention to police mistreatment of African Americans, especially young black men, the truth is that Kaepernick’s beef is with America itself.
“I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color,” Kaepernick said when he launched his kneeling protests. He explained his animus toward America, charging that many police officers were specifically targeting African Americans. “There are bodies in the street and people [police officers] getting paid leave and getting away with murder.”
Later, when veterans in particular began to voice their displeasure at what they considered disrespect for the flag under which they fought, and the country for which many have been wounded or even died, Kaepernick made an effort to placate them, saying, “The media painted this as I’m anti-American, anti-men-and-women of the military and that’s not the case at all.” So, apparently those veterans just misunderstood someone saying, “I am not going to stand up and show pride in a flag for a country” as somehow anti-American.
Amnesty International recently gave Kaepernick its Ambassador of Conscience Award. In his acceptance of the award, Kaepernick elaborated on his problems with the United States. “Racialized oppression and dehumanization are woven into the fabric of our nation.”
What is particularly contradictory about Kaepernick’s position is that abortion is the leading killer of African Americans.
Nike’s decision to give Kaepernick a multi-million dollar contract makes sense once one realizes that the company’s top brass are liberal activists. Mark Parker, the CEO of Nike, told employees in 2016, “Nike has a long history of supporting the marginalized and those whose voice is not always heard,” concluding his letter with the hashtag #BlackLivesMatter.
Apparently, the black lives snuffed out in Cuba after Castro took power have escaped the notice of Colin Kaepernick, as have the lives of the babies taken in America’s abortion mills.
Clearly, Kaepernick is promoted as a hero by the liberal mainstream media because he has expressed a multiplicity of left-wing views. It is unimaginable that these media outlets would lionize another player who launched a protest movement against abortion, for American national sovereignty, or some other such cause of which they do not approve.
When Kaepernick’s actions then receive the inevitable negative reaction by the host of Americans who dislike them, they distract from the real issue. For example, predictably, some play the “race card,” implying or in some cases outright asserting that his critics are racially motivated. Others will attempt to make it a freedom of speech issue, when no one has said that he doesn’t have a right to protest against what he sees as systemic police mistreatment of African Americans. If the NFL allows players to turn the sidelines into a forum for left-wing activism, that is certainly their prerogative, as it would then be the option of TV viewers to switch to another channel.
If a restaurant wait staff were to wear shirts that said “Make America Great Again!” everyone knows that the media would not rise to their defense if the liberal owner fired them. But when an athlete such as Kaepernick parrots their liberal view on issues ranging from abortion to policing methods, that athlete can expected to be held up by the media as a “brave” hero — even as he pockets millions of dollars from a corporate entity.
