When dressing as a woman in the war-based sitcom M.A.S.H., character Corporal Klinger’s goal was expulsion from the military. It was taken as given back then (1970s), after all, that a man with such a compulsion had psychological issues. But times have changed. Now you may be punished if you take issue with a man in drag entering a women’s restroom.

And, in fact, this is exactly what’s happening to a hapless Georgia police officer.

Per PJ Media:

Tucker, Georgia, is an eastern Atlanta suburb, located in the ultra-woke Dekalb County, so this story may not come as a surprise….

It all started a few weeks ago with a man who identifies as a woman by the name of Sasha Swinson. He was at the Tucker-Reid H. Cofer Library, a place he claims he frequents regularly, and had just used the bathroom. The women’s bathroom. When he stepped outside, a DeKalb County police officer allegedly told him that he needed to use the men’s bathroom next time as there were women and young girls in the other. As you can imagine, that didn’t sit well with Swinson.

“I use the restroom, the women’s restroom, like I have been for months, if not years,” Swinson told local news outlets. “He says, ‘Excuse me, sir.’ So, misgendering me right away, just goes, ‘But you’re not a woman. That’s obvious.'”

Below is a video of Swinson, perhaps reveling in the attention. Obvious is that he’s not even a good simulacrum of a woman. In fact, his voice is deeper than mine.

The Obvious Is Irrelevant?

After the officer stated the obvious — Swinson’s maleness — the following transpired. As Decaturish reports (pronouns changed to make them correct and not politically correct):

Swinson tried to keep [his] composure and asked the officer if he worked for the library.

“And he says, ‘What difference does that make? This is a police matter.’ He’s really mad,” Swinson said. “He said, ‘This is a police matter. It’s a safety issue. There are women, little girls in there,’ like he’s some avenging hero or something.”

Swinson told the officer, “Hey, there’s no reason to get transphobic.”

[He] said [t]he officer denied he was being transphobic, then threatened to arrest [him], telling [him], “You should be thanking me for not taking you in right now.”

That didn’t happen, of course. What did, though, is that the DeKalb County Police Department’s Internal Affairs Unit started investigating the incident.

County officials say the issue with the officer appears to be a “matter of training.” (Well, at least they’re not saying the cop is mentally ill — yet.) Then, website Rough Draft Atlanta tells us:

In practice, the county advises that “library patrons use the restroom that aligns with their gender identity.”

“DeKalb County strongly supports our LGBTQ+ community, and we embrace the right to express one’s sexual orientation and gender identity,” DeKalb County CEO Lorraine Cochran-Johnson said in a statement. “As a result of the incident, we are reviewing our educational curriculum and laws to ensure our LGBTQ+ community is protected and feels welcomed in DeKalb County.”

Spirit of the Age

In fact, if this story doesn’t reflect our age’s sexual devolutionary spirit, it’s hard knowing what does. For instance, also consider that Swinson describes himself as a “progressive Christian.” What he’s progressing toward was not reported.

Swinson does have a pastor and a church, too — Matt O’Rear of St. Luke Lutheran Church. The pastor has a “husband,” by the way, reports PJ Media, but does go by “he/him” pronouns. Pastor O’Rear and his husband — the jokes just write themselves.

As for the beleaguered officer, unfortunately, being morally right won’t mean exoneration. For according to this source, Georgia has no state law barring MUSS (Made-up Sexual Status, aka “transgender”) people from using the opposite sex’s facilities. Well, so much for the Peach State’s motto: “Wisdom, Justice, and Moderation.”

Really, though, the blame here lies not just with Swinson and woke DeKalb officials, but with us. We have tolerated the intolerable for far too long — and what you tolerate culturally, you get more of.

The Beauty of Righteous Intolerance

Instructive here is what then-monsignor Fulton J. Sheen wrote in his splendid 1931 essay “A Plea for Intolerance”:

America, it is said, is suffering from intolerance — it is not. It is suffering from tolerance. Tolerance of right and wrong, truth and error, virtue and evil, Christ and chaos. Our country is not nearly so overrun with the bigoted as it is overrun with the broadminded.

… Architects are as intolerant about sand as foundations for skyscrapers as doctors are intolerant about germs in their laboratories, and as all of us are intolerant of a particularly broad-minded, “tolerant,” and good-natured grocer who, in making our bills, adds seven and ten to make twenty.

Sheen’s point is that “tolerance” always implies the abiding of a perceived negative. (You needn’t tolerate a delectable meal; you would have to tolerate a stubborn cold.) And when that perceived negative is also objectively so — that is, evil — the only virtue lies in wiping it out.

Proper Application

Given this, how should we tackle the MUSS movement? A primer:

  • There is no legitimate scientific basis for the MUSS agenda. (For details, click here and here.)
  • Our attitude and language must always reflect reality. That is, “transgenderism” does not exist any more than “transspeciesism” does. It only describes a political agenda and psychological disorder.
  • To this end, avoid terms such as “transgender.” And don’t use woke pronouns or any language that advances the MUSS agenda. Remember, the side that defines the vocabulary of a debate wins the debate.
  • Most MUSS individuals have either fallen victim to social contagion or are men with autogynephilia. Very few actually have Sexual Identity Disorder (SID, aka “gender dysphoria”).
  • Those actually suffering with SID and bearing their cross nobly should receive compassion and discreet help. Activist-minded types who flaunt or try to legitimize MUSS degradation, however, must be scorned and ostracized. Destructive agendas should never, ever be tolerated.

Sounds harsh? Well, just consider the DeKalb County cop who’s now being “reeducated” for not wanting men in women’s restrooms. Or ponder the British pastor who was told a message on his van could be “hate speech.” What was it? The “God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten son” Bible verse.

Tolerance?

The moral: If you don’t control the culture, the culture will control you.

The cultural devolutionaries do not reciprocate your tolerance and never will. Rather, they know how to use intolerance to apply social pressure and effect change. If good people don’t learn this lesson, they can end up “tolerating” their civilization right into the grave.
