You probably haven’t heard the name Joshua Cobb. This is even though he was planning a major mass shooting, with a 10-plus body count.
It’s even though he seethed with hatred, posting social-media messages about how he intended to target a specific racial group.
It’s even though mainstream media and other pseudo-elites claim to care, deeply, about the mass shooting phenomenon.
But the issue, you see, is that Mr. Cobb’s case departs from the “narrative” in more than one way.
That is, Cobb is black, and his targets were whites. There’s a kicker, too:
The miscreant said of a possible site he might choose for his mayhem, “I am certain nobody there is armed,” thus illustrating “gun-free zone” folly.
Oh, there’s a second kicker: Cobb now faces less punishment than many January 6 political prisoners endure.
The Marine Corps Times reports on the story:
A man who was discharged from the Marine Corps on Friday after serving for less than a year was arrested Monday for making online threats to kill white people.
Former Pfc. Joshua Cobb, 23, of Trenton, New Jersey, was charged via complaint with one count of transmitting a threat in interstate and foreign commerce, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Jersey said in a news release.
Records of the alleged threats start in December 2022, when a social media user with an IP address linked to Cobb’s residence in New Jersey declared he was planning to “erase” white people in a shooting, according to the complaint.
“I want to cause mayhem on the white community,” the user wrote. “The reason i specifically want to target white people is because as a black male, they will NEVER understand my struggles.”
Of course, it’s so obvious that perhaps it needn’t be said, but what would be the reaction if a white man had perfectly mirrored this, posting material about intending to mass massacre black people? How much would the story saturate the news?
And how long would it be before the intended racial criminality was blamed on “Trumpism” (minutes or seconds)?
The good news is that Cobb was caught because he wasn’t shy about relating his dark ambitions. As the New York Post informs, providing further detail:
“It’s all a f–ing game and you all are going to die,” Cobb allegedly wrote in one text message last year. “I currently lack the means necessary to kill as many as I intend to but one day I will have the available resources (finance) to purchase the appropriate weaponry for my killings.”
In a social media post on Dec. 17, 2022, Cobb allegedly said he had chosen targets for armed attacks.
“I have not chosen a [sic] exact date but I am going to be sure it is close to an important holiday to their race,” prosecutors said he wrote. “I have a location in mind already which I have frequented for the past year and I am certain nobody there is armed to be able to stop me from spraying them to the ground.”
According to an 11-page federal complaint filed Friday, Cobb was grilled by federal agents and admitted that he wrote the messages – and detailed sites he had chosen for the attacks.
Those included a Jersey Strong gym and an Aldi grocery store in Robbinsville in Mercer County.
“My rampage will soon happen,” he warned in May 2023, the feds said. “I plan to continue accumulating the necessary equipment needed to execute. Once all equipment is in, time will then tell. You will all die.”
As for his comment about “struggles,” Cobb admitted whites had them, too, and that he couldn’t understand them, but didn’t “care to.” “I want to erase them [whites],” he continued. “All of them really, but in this case as many as I possibly can.”
So Cobb expressed a genocidal desire to exterminate an entire race. To the mainstream media, however, this is a page 38 story.
There’s much to unpack here. First, as black reverend Jesse Lee Peterson has often lamented, the anti-white hatred Cobb reflects has been ginned up by demagogues and media propagandists and is totally unjustified. White people are not the black community’s problem, Peterson has pointed out; a lack of “moral character” is (note: wanting virtue causes most of man’s problems). The hatred is a problem, though: It leads to violence and death.
Second, that Cobb aimed to target places where people would be unarmed supports the anti-“gun-free zone” argument. Of course, leftists actually do understand this position. Just consider that when pro-gun-control journalists were asked on hidden video (below) in 2013 to put a sign on their lawns stating “THIS HOME IS PROUDLY GUN FREE,” they all balked. One even said he was worried it would be “an invitation to somebody with a gun” (gee, ya’ don’t say?).
Then there’s the reason- and justice-free zone America is becoming. Incredulous that Cobb’s punishment merely “could be ‘up to five years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine,’” American Thinker provides a list of “crimes” with more severe sentences than planned anti-white shooting sprees. To wit, the site writes:
- Taking an unauthorized tour of the Capitol building while waving a little American flag;
- Temporarily blocking abortion mill doors and disrupting the baby-killing business for a couple of hours;
- Having a lawyer who pays a nuisance money grubber then bills you for the expense and you pay the bill;
- Asking for government transparency in the election process.
Of course, this is what happens when governed by nattering nabobs of the narrative who, being relativists, make everything relative to themselves — including justice.
