The chaos in Portland continues. With the election only a day away, is this just the beginning?
Police over the weekend declared a riot during the Halloween night “Capitalism is Scary” march that began around 7:15 p.m. Saturday in the city’s Irving Park.
As the crowd marched south to Portland’s convention center, the rioters smashed windows of local businesses, including a bank, a real estate agency, two phone company stores, a hotel and a Starbucks. A worker was still inside the AT&T store at the time it was vandalized.
Around 7:40 p.m., police declared a riot and broke up the demonstrators. “By 8:30 p.m., most of the rioters had gone and the riot declaration was rescinded,” police said. No arrests appeared to have been made.

Among the crowd, some people passed out paper masks of Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler. The mayor has been the subject of calls to resign since protests began in late May amid nationwide calls to end police violence against Black Americans.
Demonstrators in Portland want city leaders to cut at least $50 million from the budget of Portland police, which Wheeler oversees.
Volunteer medic Marie Tyvoll said she was attending Saturday’s protest in response to the killing of Kevin Peterson Jr., a 21-year-old Black man shot and killed Thursday near Vancouver after Clark County sheriff’s deputies confronted him because they believed he was selling drugs. Officials have provided conflicting accounts about the circumstances of the shooting. Peterson ran off and was seen with a handgun, police said. Police recovered a .40-caliber Glock pistol near Peterson’s body, but it’s unclear if he fired any shots.
The Saturday protest came one day after a Friday night vigil in honor of Kevin Peterson, Jr.
Also over the weekend, Antifa in Ellensburg, Washington, participated in the city’s downtown farmer’s market by handing out candy for what they called a communist notion.
The all-black-clad individuals gave candy to all who passed by, ostensibly with the aim of bringing attention to the needs of demographics they claim are being treated unjustly in America today. The Antifa members also said Halloween is communist because everyone deserves candy.
“This is another example of community outreach which we’ve been doing every market for weeks and on the corner for the last 151 days,” said one masked, unidentified man. “We’re speaking up for separated families, speaking up for black lives.”
Despite the attempts by the terrorist group to rebrand itself as a peaceful, family-oriented organization, the weekend’s quick descent to wanton destruction in Portland shows Antifa’s true nature remains that of radical, violent, seditious, revolutionary communism.
As Portland continues to grapple with nonstop riots that have consumed the city since the death of George Floyd, the rest of the country is bracing itself for violence and property destruction, which the Left is poised to use to pressure the government and American citizens into accepting its desired outcome in the presidential election.
It’s no secret that well-funded groups like the Transition Integrity Project, which has ties to George Soros, are calling for street fights, uprisings, and mass mobilization after the election in order to prevent President Trump from claiming victory.
As the Transition Integrity Project states:
If there is a crisis, almost every strategy to protect the democratic process is dependent on mass mobilization, and in particular, on people taking peacefully to the streets in large numbers, potentially for an extended period. Large, base-building groups on the progressive side will need to anchor this strategy, but their success will likely depend on supporting and resourcing new and emerging racial justice leaders, many of whom are not affiliated with formal institutions and coalitions.
And who are those “emerging racial justice leaders” that are “not affiliated with formal institutions” whom the organization expects to play a pivotal role in keeping President Trump from serving a second term? None other than Black Lives Matter and Antifa.
With election day almost here, Americans should brace themselves for what may be a turbulent several weeks.
