Chesa Boudin, the hard-core communist District Attorney in San Francisco, is reversing himself to keep from being recalled in June.
On Tuesday, Boudin, in an about-face, threw the book at three thugs who had terrorized the city for months without sanction. As the California Globe reported:
On Tuesday, Boudin announced that Tomiko Miller, Deshawn Patton, and Michael Menifee-Patton were charged with four counts of second-degree burglary, four counts of receiving stolen property, one count of felon in possession of a firearm, one count of resisting arrest, and other charges.
All three were observed breaking into cars, with Miller also receiving additional robbery charges for participating in the Union Square robberies last year and cutting off his ankle monitor after previously being released by a judge.
Boudin sounded like Clint Eastwood in “Dirty Harry”:
Auto burglaries have plagued this city for far too many years. I will do everything in my power to put an end to this scourge.
I have a simple message for auto burglars: if you get arrested you will be held accountable. Our office will once again ask the court for detention in this case and hope that the court will reevaluate its prior ruling and now order Mr. Miller to be held in custody pending trial.
This reversal is a blatant political move to keep him from being recalled for gross malfeasance during his term in office. The reason the recall effort was so successful, gaining 83,000 signatures when only 51,000 were needed to put his future on the ballot in June, was his awful record. As the campaign, titled “RecallChesaBoudin,” explained:
Since he took office, burglaries, car break-ins, homicides and overdose-related deaths are at a crisis level.
Boudin is not keeping San Francisco safe. He refuses to adequately prosecute criminals and fails to take the drug dealing crisis seriously. He doesn’t hold serial offenders accountable, getting them released from custody, and his response to victims is that “hopefully” home burglaries will go down.
Boudin said he wouldn’t prosecute “victimless” DUI offenses, and he failed to charge a repeat offender who then killed two pedestrians on New Year’s Eve while driving intoxicated in a stolen car.
The campaign was referring to the ghastly tragedy Boudin allowed on his watch on New Year’s Eve, 2020. As reported by the campaign:
Tragedy stuck at 4:00pm in the SoMa area of San Francisco, when a paroled felon by the name of Troy McAlister, drunk and driving a stolen car, ran a red light, lost control, and struck Hanako Abe and Elizabeth Platt.
Two pedestrians, two innocent lives killed.
Both women were simply standing on the sidewalk in the path of McAlister’s careening vehicle.
Police found drugs and a handgun in the car.
Mr. Chesa Boudin, the embattled district attorney in office less than a year at that time, has been continually blamed — yet subsequently refused any responsibility for this event.
In typical fashion, he pointed the finger at others, namely the state corrections department. Boudin asserts the department had not incarcerated McAlister for any offenses despite the fact it’s actually Boudin’s own job as district attorney to prosecute and secure prison time.
The corrections department fired back at Boudin; it’s your responsibility to file criminal charges against McAlister, and yet you hadn’t filed charges at all.
McAlister had been on released from prison and on parole beginning April 2020 (for a previous armed robbery) and was arrested numerous times throughout the remainder of that year, for felony carjacking, possession of burglary tools, auto burglary, parole violations, meth possession, and car theft.
With each arrest, Chesa Boudin refused to file charges in every instance.
The day after McAlister killed the two innocents, an informal recall petition was started. Within four days, over 10,000 signatures were obtained.
A formal, and enforceable, recall campaign began in February, which needed slightly more than 50,000 signatures to put Boudin’s future on the ballot in June. By the deadline, more than 83,000 outraged citizens had signed it. In a city of 874,000, that’s nearly one in every 10 citizens.
Thanks to Boudin’s social-justice policies — attack the police but let criminals go — burglaries are up 40 percent and homicides are up nearly 37 percent.
This is the natural and predictable result of a communist in such a position. As The New American noted back in August:
The Boudin name has a long pedigree in communist and terrorist circles. His maternal grandfather, attorney Leonard Boudin, in addition to being a member of the Communist Party USA, was the longtime legal counsel for Fidel Castro’s communist dictatorship, and was infamous for defending communists, terrorists, and leftists of every stripe.
Chesa Boudin’s parents were members of the terrorist Weather Underground. What’s more, they helped build a bomb factory in San Francisco to aid in their war against “Amerika.”
Chesa Boudin says he is committed to the same goals to which his parents were, and are, committed. They have not repudiated their past violence — which included bombings, rioting, mayhem, and murder.
It has taken a long time for the average San Franciscan to wake up. And now Boudin, taking note of the resistance building against his progressive policies, is reversing himself, making himself sound like Clint Eastwood.
Will those citizens of the City by the Bay be fooled, and keep this communist thug in power? Or will they oust him, and relegate him to a footnote in the city’s history where he belongs?
