The news for New York Attorney General Letitia James just keeps worsening. Already credibly accused of mortgage fraud on two homes in Norfolk, Virginia, James learned from the New York Post yesterday that the cops have been called to the homes nearly 24 times.
Learned, that is, if she didn’t already know.
Two of James’ criminal grandnieces live in the homes.
Mortgage Fraud Indictment; Criminal Referral
Last month, federal authorities indicted James for bank fraud related to the property at 3121 Peronne Avenue in Norfolk. She bought the property in August 2020 for some $137,000, and financed it with a loan of $109,600.
The federal Fannie Mae mortgage agency backed the loan written by OVM Financial.
A second-home rider “required JAMES, as the sole borrower to occupy and use the property as her secondary residence, and prohibited its use as a timesharing or other shared ownership arrangement or agreement that requires her either to rent the property or give any other person any control over the occupancy or use of the property,” the five-page indictment says:
Despite these representations, the Peronne Property was not occupied or used by JAMES as a secondary residence and was instead used as a rental investment property, renting the property to a family of (3).
The “misrepresentation,” the indictment alleges, allowed favorable loan terms and other benefits that saved James almost $20,000 through the life of the note. James’ tax documents also misrepresented her use of the property, the indictment says.
But that’s not the only home federal authorities are concerned about.
James’ home at 604 Sterling Street in Norfolk, purchased in 2023, is the subject of a criminal referral from the Federal Housing Finance Agency to the Justice Department. “In a Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac Form 3047 and in mortgage documents, she reaffirmed this would be her primary residence, despite being a statewide public office holder in the state of New York at that same time and primarily residing in the state of New York,” the referral says.
The Occupants
Living at the Peronne Avenue property is grandniece Nakia Thompson, a dangerous petty criminal and fugitive from the law in North Carolina. She’s been charged twice by Tarheel State cops, and her rap sheet is a long one. Most recently, Thompson was charged with “threatening to punch her kid’s assistant principal as she called her a ‘bald-headed b***h,’” the Post revealed last month.
Lindenwood Elementary School assistant principal Marie Hall wrote in her complaint that “she and the school principal initially called Thompson around 1:15 p.m. to inform her about a problem with one of her children,” the Post explained:
Thompson allegedly flew into a rage, screeching, “B***h, I’m going to punch you in the f**king face.”
Thompson then showed up at the school 20 minutes later to continue her harassment of the school official, the complaint claims.
Hall, along with two other staffers, met with Thompson in the office, where she allegedly continued to lash out, forcing school officials to cut the meeting short.
Thompson continued her tantrum as she was walking out of the building.
“As Ms. Thompson is leaving down the hallway talking with another person on speaker, she said something to the effect of, ‘I’ma punch this b***h in the face,’” Hall wrote.
“[She] then directed threats at me including ‘that’s alright b***h I got something for you’ and ‘I don’t care, I’m still gonna punch you in the f**king face bald-headed b***h.’”
Occupying the other home is Shamice Thompson-Hairston, the referral says, and two other of James’ relatives, the Post divulged. They are Cayla Thompson-Hairston and Courtney Hairston.
“Cayla Thompson-Hairston, 21, who is an OnlyFans model with a X-rated social media presence, was hit with felony charges in April 2024 for allegedly lying about having a felony criminal record when she tried to buy a gun in Suffolk, Va.,” the Post divulged.
In August 2019, cops nabbed Nakia Thompson and Cayla Thompson-Hairston “for stealing nearly $2,000 worth of merchandise from Macy’s and Dillard’s in Chesapeake, Va., where they lived before moving into James’ homes.”
Cayla and big sister Nakia, the newspaper reported, have been charged 11 times in five years, but amazingly, “keep getting off easy.”
Nearly Two Dozen Calls to Houses
And now the Post has revealed just what’s going on at the two homes. They’ve become “magnets for police activity since [James] bought them — with cops dispatched two dozen times since her ne’er-do-well kin moved in,” the newspaper reported.
Such is the trouble at the home that cops have been “called multiple times in a day,” the newspaper continued:
Cops went out to the house for issuing warrants and subpoenas — as well as for incidents labeled vandalism, domestic issues and for suspicious persons. …
[T]hree of the calls were placed the year she bought it, one each in 2021, 2022 and 2023 — and six in the first two weeks of October this year.
Nakia Thompson, by the way, confessed to a grand jury that she has lived at home rent-free since 2020, the year James purchased it.
Cops visited the home occupied by porn queen Cayla 10 times between April last year and April this year. “Calls for warrant service and a subpoena were included — along with calls for a domestic dispute and a reported assault,” the Post reported:
One service call was placed in April 2025, but the other nine fell during a six-month period between April 2024 and October 2024.
