U.S. Border Czar Tom Homan said last night that the probe into the leaks that crippled two illegal-alien raids by Immigration and Customs Enforcement points to the FBI.
The leaks harmed raids in Los Angeles, California, and Aurora, Colorado, where the Venezuelan Tren de Aragua murder gang has established a major operating base.
Homan told Fox talker Sean Hannity that the person who leaked the Aurora raid is possibly identified, and that the inspector general at the Department of Homeland Security is investigating.
The Leaks
The latest leak went to the Los Angeles Times, which on Friday disclosed forthcoming raids in the City of Angels.
One active and one former FBI official spilled the beans to the Times in an obvious attempt to sabotage the operation.
“A former federal law enforcement official, who said they had been informed about the recent preparations but spoke on the condition of anonymity fearing retaliation, also said FBI agents were being ordered to participate in pending ICE ‘raids’ in Los Angeles,” the Times reported:
Neither of the officials could provide an exact time frame for the potential actions.
The active federal law enforcement official warned that plans could change due to the “chaotic” nature of the Trump administration’s first few weeks in power and expected pushback from within some of the agencies that will be required to aid ICE.
“Just because certain information is being given doesn’t mean it’s the administration’s plan, because they know some agents are going to be resistant,” the official said.
The story invited a frosty rebuke from Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem. “The FBI is so corrupt,” she wrote on X. “We will work with any and every agency to stop leaks and prosecute these crooked deep state agents to the fullest extent of the law.”
U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi promised prosecutions.
The raid in Aurora, where, again, ICE had targeted TdA gang members, was another operation blown by a leaker.
ICE hoped to collar more than 100 border-jumping criminals but they were long gone. ICE collared just one gang member and arrested 30 other illegals.
“We’re not going to tolerate it anymore,” Homan said of the leak:
This is not a game when we show up at these sites. This is a dangerous job for the men and women of ICE and Border Patrol and all the DOJ agencies. To have this type of interference puts our officers at great risk. Not only the officers, [but] it puts the aliens at great risk because anything can happen when we take our eyes off the goal here….
[This is] not a joke, this is serious business. And they need to stop, or we’re going to prosecute them through [the] Department of Justice.
FBI Leaker?
Last night, Homan told Hannity that the probe continues, officials have identified a leaker, and that jail time is ahead for the renegade.
“We think we identified that person,” Homan said of the Aurora leak, which is “under investigation right now.”
Noem, he said, was right about the California leak. “Some of the information we are receiving tends to lead toward the FBI,” he said.
Homan also gave the leaker a look into his or her future. “I talked to the attorney general all this weekend,” he said:
They’ve opened up a criminal investigation and they have promised not only will this person lose their job and lose their pension, but they will go to jail.
We are all over it. We got the DHS IG investigating the first one. The IG’s opened up a criminal investigation on the second.
Leaking details on the raid doesn’t just given the the “bad guys a heads up so they can escape apprehension,” Homan continued:
You are putting officers’ lives at risk. It’s only a matter of time where we walk into a place where there’s going to be a bad guy who doesn’t care. He’s going to be sitting in wait for the officers to show up and ambush them.
It’s not a game. So DHS and DOJ are connected at the hip to hold these people in a criminal fashion.
Asked how sure he was that the leaker was inside the FBI, Homan said the deputy attorney general, Emil Bove, “thinks the information is coming from there…. Some of the leads point that way.”
Putting IRS Agents to Work
Homan said he can use properly trained agents from the Internal Revenue Service to help ICE, as Noem has announced.
Homan also said that he wants “double the manpower” heading to sanctuary cities because they are “putting up every road block” to stop the apprehension of illegal alien criminals.
“I don’t sleep well at night because I am afraid of the people that are walking the streets every day because sanctuary cities are protecting them,” Homan said:
They are sanctuaries for criminals, bottom-line. We’re going to do everything we can to find them, regardless of what it takes.
The day after Trump was inaugurated, Bove, the acting deputy attorney general, warned state and local sanctuary officials that the Justice Department would prosecute those who block ICE from arresting and deporting illegals, as many of those officials have.
Since Trump’s election, several officials have openly said they will refuse to help him. Those include the heads of Boston, Seattle, San Diego County, and Denver. The far-left mayor of Denver, Colorado, Mike Johnston, vowed rebellion and insurrection.
The officials would be charged with harboring illegal aliens, as well as conspiracy against the United States, and violating the Immigration and Nationality Act, which criminalizes blocking the enforcement of federal immigration laws.
