Unable to derail Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s rise to the U.S. Supreme Court with an accusation of attempted rape, enemies of the judge stepped forward on Sunday with a new accuser.
But this one too had memory problems about the night in question. Because she was drunk.
Meanwhile, Kavanaugh (shown) delivered a letter today to Senate Judiciary Chairman Charles Grassley (R-Iowa) and his leftist co-chairman, Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), saying that false allegations will not force him out of the confirmation process.
New Accuser Was Drunk
The latest accuser, the New Yorker reported, frankly admits she was so plastered she didn’t know what happened. Debbie Ramirez “was at first hesitant to speak publicly, partly because her memories contained gaps because she had been drinking at the time of the alleged incident,” the magazine reported.
But then came the well-timed memory massage:
After six days of carefully assessing her memories and consulting with her attorney, Ramirez said that she felt confident enough of her recollections to say that she remembers Kavanaugh had exposed himself at a drunken dormitory party, thrust his penis in her face, and caused her to touch it without her consent as she pushed him away….
“We were sitting in a circle,” she said. “People would pick who drank.” Ramirez was chosen repeatedly, she said, and quickly became inebriated.
“Brett was laughing,” she said. “I can still see his face, and his hips coming forward, like when you pull up your pants.” She recalled another male student shouting about the incident. “Somebody yelled down the hall, ‘Brett Kavanaugh just put his penis in Debbie’s face,’” she said. “It was his full name. I don’t think it was just ‘Brett.’ And I remember hearing and being mortified that this was out there.”
But, in fact, she didn’t remember, as the New Yorker confessed.

Witnesses who support the then-blotto student’s accusation were not there. They heard stories about it second hand, meaning their claims are hearsay. Indeed, the magazine admitted, “The New Yorker has not confirmed with other eyewitnesses that Kavanaugh was present at the party.”
That left others to speak. One, who supposedly “egged on” Kavanaugh, doesn’t remember such a party. “I don’t think Brett would flash himself to Debbie,” he told the New Yorker, “or anyone, for that matter.”
And there’s more:
Two of those male classmates who Ramirez alleged were involved in the incident, the wife of a third male student she said was involved, and one other classmate, Dan Murphy, disputed Ramirez’s account of events: “We were the people closest to Brett Kavanaugh during his first year at Yale. He was a roommate to some of us, and we spent a great deal of time with him, including in the dorm where this incident allegedly took place. Some of us were also friends with Debbie Ramirez during and after her time at Yale. We can say with confidence that if the incident Debbie alleges ever occurred, we would have seen or heard about it — and we did not. The behavior she describes would be completely out of character for Brett. In addition, some of us knew Debbie long after Yale, and she never described this incident until Brett’s Supreme Court nomination was pending.”
Ramirez’s best friend at the time, “who was married to the male classmate alleged to be involved, and who signed the statement, said Ramirez never breathed a word about it. “We shared intimate details of our lives,” she told the New Yorker. “And I was never told this story by her, or by anyone else. It never came up. I didn’t see it; I never heard of it happening.”
Even the New York Times couldn’t verify the tale: “The Times had interviewed several dozen people over the past week in an attempt to corroborate her story, and could find no one with firsthand knowledge.”
Kavanaugh Letter
For his part, Kavanaugh explained to Senators Grassley and Feinstein what he’s gone through since Ford, also memory challenged, accused him of attempted rape.
“Last night, another false and uncorroborated accusation from 35 years ago was published,” he wrote. “Once again, those alleged to have been witnesses to the event deny it ever happened. There is now a frenzy to come up with something — anything — that will block this process and a vote on my confirmation from occurring. These are smears, pure and simple.”
But smears and “vile threats of violence against my family will not drive me out.”
