Dr. Ron Paul is a military veteran, achieving the rank of captain while serving as a flight surgeon in the U.S. Air Force and U.S. National Guard. He is also a family physician/obstetrician who has delivered thousands of babies. However, he is best known for his years in the U.S. House of Representatives, as well as his runs for the White House in 2008 and 2012, his stalwart defense of constitutional principles, and his unstinting adherence to sound fiscal and monetary policy. Representing Texas’ 22nd Congressional District (1975-1977 and 1979-1985) and 14th Congressional District (1997-2013), Representative Paul amassed an outstanding lifetime score of 97 percent on this magazine’s Freedom Index. He is a senior fellow of the Mises Institute, and a prolific author whose book titles include The Case for Gold, End the Fed, Freedom Under Siege, Pillars of Prosperity, The School Revolution, A Foreign Policy of Freedom, Liberty Defined, and The Revolution: A Manifesto.

During his more than two decades in the U.S. House of Representatives, Paul steadfastly refused to vote for any unconstitutional bill, often bucking his own Republican Party leaders, which earned him the proud title of “Dr. No.” Refusing to accept government funds for his medical services, Dr. Paul cared for many of his patients free of charge. He is a staunch opponent of the Federal Reserve (calling for a full audit of, and then abolishing, the Fed) and is an advocate for our return to the gold standard. He is the founder and chairman of the Ron Paul Institute for Peace and Prosperity.

Dr. Paul sat down for an interview with TNA senior editor William F. Jasper on November 6, the day after Election Day. The video interview can be viewed here. The transcript below has been edited for space and clarity.
