2A for Today | Supreme Court Wins Affirm the Second Amendment
The U.S. Supreme Court delivered important decisions on the Second Amendment in a series of landmark cases this term. These rulings build on the historical-tradition test from New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen (2022), in which the Court struck down gun-control laws that contradict our Republic’s founding principles.
The recent decisions reaffirm the constitutionally protected, God-given right of individuals to keep and bear arms for self-defense, and uphold the principle of an armed populace capable of protecting life and liberty.
Hawaii’s “Vampire Rule” Rejected: Wolford v. Lopez
In Wolford v. Lopez, the Supreme Court struck down a Hawaii law banning concealed carry on private property open to the public (gas stations, restaurants, stores, etc.) unless the property owners expressly give permission. This default carry ban, known as the “Vampire Rule,” created a de facto prohibition that severely restricted the right to bear arms in public.
