The nation is approaching the 20th anniversary of the most horrific and deadly terror attack in American history. As Americans prepare to commemorate those who lost their lives, they must also recognize the importance of staying on the offensive to prevent such tragedies from ever happening again. When President Trump was in office, most Americans felt comfortable knowing that America was leading from a position of strength. With Joe Biden at the helm, America has, once again, resorted to a policy of weakness. With September 11 rapidly approaching, President Biden has made America much less safe by destabilizing the Middle East, failing in Afghanistan, and allowing droves of illegal immigrants to enter the country.
When President Trump was in office, Israel had a friend in America and enjoyed unwavering American support. The dangerous Iran deal was a thing of the past, and Israel’s (and Americas) enemies knew not to test America’s resolve. Conversely, Iran doesn’t fear or respect Biden. It welcomes and thrives on his weakness. For example, after President Trump targeted Iran’s top general, Qasem Soleimani, Biden said that President Trump “tossed a stick of dynamite into a tinderbox” with the targeted killing, and said it could leave the United States “on the brink of a major conflict across the Middle East.” In other words, after the American military successfully eliminated a major threat, Biden attacked and criticized President Trump. Iran has also increased its attacks against Israeli targets in the region, knowing that the Biden administration wouldn’t dare retaliate. Groups such as Hezbollah and Hamas have also been emboldened to attack Israeli targets, almost daring the Biden administration to strike back, yet knowing that it won’t.
The situation in Afghanistan is just as dire. Currently, the Taliban (yes, the same group that America had to deal with after the September 11, 2001 attacks) has taken control over a large part of the country. The group has taken possession of American weapons and is using them against Americans and Afghan troops/people. The reason for this offensive is abundantly clear, and directly relates to Biden’s weak foreign policy. As a result, Afghanistan is currently in disarray, American lives are at risk, the Afghan president has fled, and the country is, once again, a potential haven for terrorist groups. During a recent interview with Martha MacCallum, former CIA Director and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo stated:
Well, I don’t know exactly what they are doing, but we had conditions attached to how we were thinking about this withdrawal — I was part of those negotiations. I was also in the room when President Trump made very clear to Mullah Baradar, the senior Taliban negotiator, that if you threatened an American, if you scared an American, certainly if you hurt an American, that we would bring all American power to bear to make sure that we went to your village, to your house. We were very clear about the things we were prepared to do to protect American lives. And indeed, since we began those negotiations back in February of 2020, there wasn’t a single American killed by the Taliban. We had established a deterrence model. I hope we haven’t lost that for the Americans who are still on the ground there in Kabul. And then the last thing, Martha, we had begun the reduction of our operations in that embassy. I ordered a drawdown in the embassy in Kabul that took place. We were continuing to reduce our risk and our footprint there. I hope that they continued down that path. I hope that we are now in a place that to get our folks out of there in a way that is rational and consistent not only with the need to get our Americans home but making sure this ungoverned space doesn’t become another hotbed for Al Qaeda, ISIS or some other radical Islamic terrorist group.
While Biden’s failed foreign policy is, in and of itself, enough cause for concern, his immigration policies simply compound the problem. At the present time, the southern border of the United States is being inundated by illegal immigrants. Moreover, Biden intends to offer amnesty and a “pathway to citizenship” to millions of illegal immigrants, and has threatened to tear down large swaths of the existing border wall.
The number of people entering the country illegally is so large that it is simply unrealistic to think that every person has been properly vetted for purposes of national security. Can the Biden administration assure Americans that each and every person illegally crossing the border and entering the country has been properly “vetted” and does not intend to cause harm to America or Americans? It is simply unrealistic to think so, as the Biden administration cannot even ensure that those illegally entering the country are free from COVID, let alone anything more sinister. After the September 11, 2001 attacks, President George W. Bush stated, “Our border policies must strengthen our security and prevent future attacks.” Tragically, Biden does not, or refuses to, acknowledge the risks that his policies pose to America and the American people.
Biden’s policies in the Middle East, his failures in Afghanistan, and his willingness to allow virtually anyone to enter the United States illegally have created somewhat of a “perfect storm” in which America is much less safe. The administration’s inability or unwillingness to see this was perfectly exemplified by virtue of the Department of Homeland Security’s recent decision to treat those who engage in “conspiracy theories” about Trump’s alleged reinstatement or alleged “misinformation” about COVID as possible terrorists. While the Middle East is in complete disarray, Afghanistan is under Taliban attack and takeover, and America is being overrun by illegal immigrants, the Biden administration is concerned about alleged “misinformation” and “conspiracy theories?”
As the nation prepares to mourn and remember the thousands who perished on that dreadful Tuesday morning, the Biden administration must take tough and decisive measures to protect Americans now and in the future. President Bush did so, as did President Trump. Biden, on the other hand, has failed miserably in that regard.
As a result, America is less safe than it was before he took office.
