In response to the Ukrainian strike in Karachev on Tuesday, Russia launched a “warning shot” at Ukraine. According to unverified claims, Russia launched a nonnuclear intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) at the Ukrainian city of Dnipro earlier today.

During a press briefing, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova received a phone call from an unidentified person, who stated, “About the ballistic missile strike on Yuzhmash that the Western media are talking about, we are not commenting at all.”

Reuters reported that two Western officials are claiming Russia did not use an ICBM in the strike: “Russia did not use an intercontinental ballistic missile during an attack on the Ukrainian city of Dnipro on Thursday, two Western officials told Reuters, contradicting the official account from Ukraine. The Western officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the assessment was based on initial analysis and left open the possibility that conclusion could change.”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the missile used in the strike appeared to be an ICBM based on its speed and altitude:

Today, our insane neighbor has once again revealed its true nature—its disdain for dignity, freedom, and human life itself. And, most of all, its fear. Fear so overwhelming that it unleashes missile after missile, scouring the globe for more weapons—whether from Iran or North Korea. Today, it was a new Russian missile. Its speed and altitude suggest intercontinental ballistic capabilities. Investigations are ongoing.

Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated earlier today that U.S. military facilities near Russia, specifically U.S. missiles in Poland, are priorities for potential strikes, explaining:

💬 #Zakharova: The so-called US missile defence base (not really) in Poland has been put on the list of priority targets for potential elimination. The nature and level of threats posed by these Western military facilities are well-known & taken into account.

Annie Jacobsen, investigative journalist and author of the book Nuclear War: A Scenario, said the regional conflict’s escalation to the brink of global nuclear war is “madness.” She explained that missile detection systems cannot determine whether or not an ICBM payload is nuclear, stating in a post on X:

This is madness. All of it. To understand what is going on inside US nuclear command, control, and communication right now, read NUCLEAR WAR: A SCENARIO. Satellites cannot determine what kind of warhead is in an incoming ICBM until AFTER it detonates.

Former U.S. Army Lieutenant General Michael Flynn called on House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) to demand that President Joe Biden address the nation, either from the Oval Office or in a joint session of Congress. Flynn posted on X:

BREAKING:

1. We appear to be on the brink of WWIII.

2. Congress is set to go on recess for Thanksgiving.

3. We’ve heard nothing from the POTUS

4. Offensive exchanges of provocative & sophisticated nuclear capable weapons have occurred between Ukraine and Russia.

5. The real potential for global escalation outside of the “boundaries” of this regional war is as high as they have ever been

So What?

Congress ( @SpeakerJohnson ) should immediately demand @POTUS address the nation either to a joint session of Congress or from the Oval Office.

One way or the other, the American people deserve to hear from our President if there are any dangers presented to our safety and security here in our homeland and to better understand what vital national security interests are at stake here…ie., WTH are the United States overarching objectives?

America is standing by for our representatives to act.
