U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced the arrival of U.S. Air Force F-22 Raptors at the Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar today.
The announcement explained that the aircraft arrived in CENTCOM’s area of responsibility as a show of force to reduce the chance of Iran or its allies escalating conflict in the region, with CENTOM stating on X, “U.S. Air Force F-22 Raptors arrived in the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility Aug. 8 as part of U.S. force posture changes in the region to mitigate the possibility of regional escalation by Iran or its proxies.”
The arrival of the U.S. Air Force stealth fighter aircraft in Qatar takes place after General Michael Erik Kurilla, commander of CENTCOM, met with Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and Israel Defense Forces chief of general staff Lieutenant Generl Herzl “Herzi” Halevi earlier this week.
