Former President Donald Trump’s lawyers are presenting their closing arguments in the “hush money” criminal trial in New York today. Defense lawyer Todd Blanche stated that Trump was innocent, and that prosecutors failed to prove his guilt. “President Trump is innocent. He did not commit any crimes, and the district attorney has not met their burden of proof,” he said.

Trump disagreed with prosecutors making the final statements before jury deliberations, posting on Truth Social:

WHY IS THE CORRUPT GOVERNMENT ALLOWED TO MAKE THE FINAL ARGUMENT IN THE CASE AGAINST ME? WHY CAN’T THE DEFENSE GO LAST? BIG ADVANTAGE, VERY UNFAIR. WITCH HUNT! DJT

President Biden’s reelection campaign used the trial for a campaign event, with actor Robert De Niro and former U.S. Capitol Police officer Harry Dunn holding a press conference outside the trial. De Niro accused Trump of being a dictator, and alleged Trump would never leave office if reelected, stating:

If he gets in I can tell you right now, he will never leave. He will never leave. You know that. He will never leave. What does that mean? Is that the country we want to live in? Do we want him running this country, and saying I’m not leaving I’m dictator for life.
