In response to the second assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump, his presidential campaign posted a news release today that cites more than 50 instances of political opponents allegedly inciting political violence with false statements and inflammatory rhetoric. Trump also responded, blaming the wave of political violence targeting him on “rhetoric, lies,” and “false statements,” made by Vice President Kamala Harris, stating in a post on X:

The Rhetoric, Lies, as exemplified by the false statements made by Comrade Kamala Harris during the rigged and highly partisan ABC Debate, and all of the ridiculous lawsuits specifically designed to inflict damage on Joe’s, then Kamala’s, Political Opponent, ME, has taken politics in our Country to a whole new level of Hatred, Abuse, and Distrust. Because of this Communist Left Rhetoric, the bullets are flying, and it will only get worse! Allowing millions of people, from places unknown, to INVADE and take over our Country, is an unpardonable sin. OUR BORDERS “temperature of this election cycle,” MUST BE CLOSED, AND THE TERRORISTS, CRIMINALS, AND MENTALLY INSANE, IMMEDIATELY REMOVED FROM AMERICAN CITIES AND TOWNS, DEPORTED BACK TO THEIR COUNTIES OF ORIGIN. WE WANT PEOPLE TO COME INTO OUR COUNTRY, BUT THEY MUST LOVE OUR NATION, AND COME IN LEGALLY AND THROUGH A SYSTEM OF MERIT. THE WORLD IS LAUGHING AT US AS FOOLS, THEY ARE STEALING OUR JOBS AND OUR WEALTH. WE CANNOT LET THEM LAUGH ANY LONGER. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!

In response to the assassination attempt against Trump yesterday, whistleblower and former Director for European Affairs for the U.S. National Security Council Alexander Vindman claimed Trump has stoked political violence, and alleged he “instigated attacks” and incited “bomb threats” against immigrants, stating on X:

Donald @realDonaldTrump instigated attacks on legal immigrants resulting in bomb threats. His constant stoking of political violence doesn’t receive enough scrutiny. And the violence he inspires doesn’t receive enough condemnation. #WereNotGoingBack to that chaos.

Alexander Vindman gained national attention after he was deposed on October 29, 2019 during the first Trump impeachment inquiry, where his testimony was used as evidence in Trump’s first impeachment. Vindman downplayed the attack, and doubled down on his rhetoric earlier today, blaming Trump for the “temperature of this election cycle,” and claimed Trump constantly “incited political violence,” stating on X:

The convicted criminal @realDonaldTrump, who constantly incited political violence, while enjoying the security provided by his secret service protection details, gets far more consideration than those defenseless victims he encourages violence against. Where is the concern for the victims.

Yesterday, Vindman’s wife, podcast host Rachel Vindman, responded to news of the second assassination attempt, mocking Trump in a now-deleted tweet, stating on X:

No ears were harmed. Carry on with your Sunday afternoon.

After receiving criticism for her post, Rachel Vindman responded, maintaining her rhetoric, stating on X:

Sorry you’re triggered. 🤣🤣🤣 I mean no I’m not. I don’t care a little bit 🫶🏻

After doubling down on her initial posts, Rachel Vindman issued an apology earlier today, stating on X:

I have deleted my tweet. It was flippant & political violence is a serious issue. Whether it’s aimed at a former president, the media, immigrants, or political “enemies” & every incident should be addressed appropriately if we want to change the tenor of our political discourse.

Rachel Vindman attempted to justify her actions after her apology, stating on X:

I have sat awake many nights wondering who might be outside. I have known the instant fear of receiving an unknown package or letter. I have had my child ask me if we were safe and if someone was going to hurt our family.
