Representative Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) won his primary race last night with over 75 percent of the vote. The Associated Press called the race at 6 p.m., declaring Massie the winner. With 98 percent of the votes counted, Massie had received 75.9 percent (39,929 votes), Michael McGinnis 12.6 percent (6,604 votes), and Eric Deters 11.5 percent (6,060 votes).
After the race was called, Massie noted his large margin of victory despite AIPAC (the American Israel Public Affairs Committee) spending over $400,000 on advertisements attacking his foreign policy voting record and position on foreign aid, stating on X:
Despite the large amount of AIPAC spending in the race, Massie’s constituents remained overwhelmingly supportive. AIPAC stated it was “not playing in” on the primary election, stating on X:
As we’ve said, AIPAC was “not playing in” Massie’s primary. We’re shining a spotlight on his atrocious anti-Israel record and making sure every Kentuckian knows that @RepThomasMassie votes with @AOC, @RashidaTlaib, and @IlhanMN against pro-Israel bills.
Massie responded on X to AIPAC’s attempt to associate his voting policy with Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.), and Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.):
🇺🇸 FIRST. After spending $400k+ smearing me, and watching me get 75%+ in the race tonight, they claim they weren’t playing in the race. They deserve the ratio here.
