Teamsters President Sean O’Brien spoke about Teamsters Union members’ dissatisfaction with the Democratic Party during an interview with comedian Theo Von on his podcast This Past Weekend. Von asked O’Brien about the groups pushing back against the Teamsters Union, and O’Brien stated in his response:

It’s a combination of corporate America, and I refer to them all the time as f*ckin white collar criminals, right that all they do is care about the bottom line and the balance sheet…. And then you have, you know there’s politicians, both sides, Democrats and Republicans, and I’ll be honest with you, I’m a Democrat but they have f*cked us over for the last 40 years, and for once, and not all of them, but for once we’re standing up as a union, probably the only one right now saying, “what the f*ck have you done for us?” And I’m getting attacked from the Left, you know, we’ve given since I’ve been in office two and a half years, we’ve given the Democratic machine $15.7 million. We’ve given Republicans about $340,000, truth be told. So it’s like, you know, people say the Democratic party is the party of the working people. They’re bought and paid for by Big Tech, those big tech companies.

O’Brien continued, stating the Republican Party has a “great opportunity” to become the party of the working class, stating:

And you’ve got the Republicans who are now saying “hey we want to be the working class party” right, and okay you’ve got a great opportunity right now to do that, and the Democrats, if 60 percent of our members aren’t supporting you, the f*ckin system’s broken, and you need to fix it, stop pointing fingers at Sean O’Brien, stop pointing fingers at the Teamsters Union. Look in the mirror. I mean I had a heated debate with, heated discussion two weeks ago with Chuck Schumer, and that got f*ckin ugly.”

Last month the Teamsters released polling data from their union members asking, “Question: Who should the Teamsters endorse for U.S. President in 2024,” with the electronic member poll showing former President Donald Trump receiving 59.6 percent over Vice President Kamala Harris at 34 percent, with 6.4 percent going to “Other Candidates.” Research phone poll results were similar, with Trump leading with 58 percent over Harris at 31 percent, with six percent “Undecided”, and five percent “Don’t Know.”

After the podcast, O’Brien posted on X, “Great conversation with the hilarious @TheoVon… Appreciate you having me on, brother, and applauding American workers. #GangGang 🤝🎧”. The union also shared the podcast, stating on X, “Teamsters General President Sean M. O’Brien joins @TheoVon on “This Past Weekend,” talking all things Amazon, UPS, politics, today’s labor movement, and the American worker. Don’t miss it. #Teamsters #GangGang”
