Steve Bannon was released from federal prison this morning after serving a four-month sentence at FCI Danbury in Connecticut. Bannon was convicted in July 2022 on two counts of contempt of Congress after he failed to comply with a congressional subpoena concerning the events of January 6, 2021.

Bannon returned to hosting his War Room podcast following his release and stated the four months in prison empowered him, stating:

The four months in federal prison not only didn’t break me, it empowered me. I am more energized and more focused than I’ve ever been in my entire life, and I can see clearly just like in 2016 and in 2020, exactly what’s going on here and what we have to do to defeat it.

Prior to reporting to FCI Danbury, Bannon unsuccessfully appealed the conviction, claiming he was exempt from the congressional subpoena due to former President Donald Trump allegedly asserting executive privilege over his testimony and the documents requested by the January 6 Committee.
