Senator Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) entered a not-guilty plea to new charges this morning in Manhattan federal court. The Associated Press reported Menendez as saying, “Once again, not guilty your honor” to Judge Sidney H. Stein after being asked to enter a plea.

Menendez faces new obstruction of justice charges in a corruption case, in which he allegedly accepted bribes of cash, gold bars, and a luxury vehicle in exchange for assistance in a meat-certification deal between the Egyptian government and three New Jersey businessmen.

Jose Uribe, one of the three businessmen in the bribery scheme, entered a guilty plea and agreed to testify against the other parties at trial.
