Lindsey Graham Repeats Calls for War With Iran

In response to the drone attack yesterday carried out by militants allegedly backed by Iran, Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) called on the U.S. military to retaliate, saying on X, “Hit Iran now. Hit them hard.” The attack killed three and injured more than 30 U.S. military service members at the U.S. outpost in Jordan near the Syria and Iraq border.

In response to the calls for escalation, U.S. Marine Corps veteran Representative Seth Moulton (D-Mass.) warned politicians against starting a war with Iran, saying on X, “To the chicken hawks calling for war with Iran, you’re playing into the enemy’s hands — and I’d like to see you send your sons and daughters to fight. We must have an effective, strategic response on our terms and our timeline. Deterrence is hard; war is worse.”

President Joe Biden has said the U.S. will respond to the attack, saying, “We will hold all those responsible to account at a time and in a manner our choosing.”

Former President Donald Trump responded to the attacks, stating on Truth Social,

The drone attack on a U.S. Military Installation in Jordan, killing 3 American Servicemembers [sic], and wounding many more, marks a horrible day for America. My most profound sympathies go to the Families of the Brave Servicemembers we have lost. I ask all Americans to join me in praying for those who have been wounded. This brazen attack on the United States is yet another horrific and tragic consequence of Joe Biden’s weakness and surrender….
