The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced they recovered the remains of six hostages in Khan Yunis in Gaza. In a statement on X, the IDF said the recovery of the bodies was enabled by intelligence from the Israel Security Agency (ISA) and the IDF Intelligence Directorate Hostage Headquarters:

Yagev Buchshtab, Alexander Dancyg, Avraham Munder, Yoram Metzger, Nadav Popplewell and Haim Perry’s bodies were rescued from the Khan Yunis area in Gaza. They were abducted by Hamas on Oct. 7. The rescue operation was enabled by precise intelligence from the ISA, intelligence units and the IDF Intelligence Directorate Hostage Headquarters. We will continue to operate in order to return all of the remaining hostages back home. Our hearts are with the families of these victims of Hamas’ terrorism.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed condolences to the families of Yagev Buchshtab, Alexander Dancyg, Yoram Metzger, Avraham Munder, Haim Perry, and Nadav Popplewell, stating on X:

Our hearts grieve over the terrible loss. My wife Sara and I convey our heartfelt condolences to the dear families. I would like to thank the brave IDF and ISA fighters and commanders for their heroism and determined action.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said the operation in Khan Yunis is an example of the IDF’s commitment to return all of the hostages taken during the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack on Israel, stating on X:

The operation to rescue the spaces is another expression of the determination and courage of the fighters alongside the freedom of operational action that we have achieved all over the Gaza Strip – we will continue to expand it and realize the goals of the war – the dissolution of Hamas, and the realization of our commitment to return all abductees to Israel.
