Hunter Biden’s ex-wife, Kathleen Buhle, and ex-girlfriend, Zoe Kestan, testified in his federal gun trial today. Biden is accused of lying on a federal firearms transaction form — ATF Form 4473 — when he purchased a Colt Cobra .38 Special revolver in 2018. Question 21. f. states:

Are you an unlawful user of, or addicted to, marijuana or any depressant, stimulant, narcotic drug, or any other controlled substance? Warning: The use or possession of marijuana remains unlawful under Federal law regardless of whether it has been legalized or decriminalized for medicinal or recreational purposes in the state where you reside.

Prosecutor Derek Hines stated, “When the defendant filled out that form, he knew he was a drug addict,” and said Biden violated federal law by lying on the form, stating, “No one is allowed to lie on a federal form like that, even Hunter Biden.… He crossed the line when he chose to buy a gun and lied about a federal background check.… The defendant’s choice to buy a gun is why we are here.” During an FBI Agent’s testimony, he read messages sent by Biden discussing drug purchases.

Biden was discharged from the U.S. Navy Reserve in February 2014 after a urinalysis tested positive for cocaine. The drug testing was administered shortly after Biden was commissioned at the age of 43 after receiving waivers for his age and prior drug use.

Buhle and Biden separated in October 2015, and divorced in 2017. Buhle testified that she found a crack pipe before he moved out of their home in 2015.
