In former President Donald Trump’s New York civil fraud trial, New York State Judge Arthur Engoron imposed a $364 million penalty on Trump after ruling he was guilty of financial fraud. The ruling prevents Trump from serving as an officer or director of a corporation in New York for three years.
Engoron imposed the penalty, stating Trump “failed to accept responsibility” and that the fraud was a “venial sin, not a mortal sin.” The ruling did not order any Trump companies to be dissolved, with Engoron saying that “could implicate serious economic concerns.”
In response to the ruling, Trump attorney Alina Habba said she trusts the New York State Appellate Division will overturn the ruling, saying on X,
