CNN’s Dana Bash reported that Senators Michael Bennet (D-Colo.), Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio), and Jon Tester (D-Mont.) warned their Democratic colleagues during closed-door meetings yesterday that President Joe Biden can’t defeat former President Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election.

Speaking with CNN’s Kaitlan Collins, Bennet confirmed the report, stating,

Well it’s true that I said that, and I did say that behind closed doors, and you guys and others asked whether I had said it, and that is what I said. So I figured I should come here and say it publicly.

Bennet continued, stating he believed Republicans are on track to win the Senate and the House, along with defeating Biden:

Donald Trump is on track, I think, to win this election, and maybe win it by a landslide and take with him the Senate and the House. So for me, this isn’t a question about polling, it’s not a question about politics, it’s a moral question about the future of our country, and I think it’s critically important for us to come to grips with what we face if together we put this country on the path of electing Donald Trump again.

Prominent Hollywood Democrats have called Biden to drop out of the presidential race, with actor George Clooney writing an op-ed published in The New York Times today, in which he stated:

It’s devastating to say it, but the Joe Biden I was with three weeks ago at the fund-raiser was not the Joe “big F-ing deal” Biden of 2010. He wasn’t even the Joe Biden of 2020. He was the same man we all witnessed at the debate.

Clooney co-hosted the largest Democratic fundraiser in history, taking in more than $30 million for the Biden campaign. Director Rob Reiner responded to Clooney’s op-ed, saying he expressed what many in Hollywood believe, posting on X:

My friend George Clooney has clearly expressed what many of us have been saying. We love and respect Joe Biden. We acknowledge all he has done for our country. But Democracy is facing an existential threat. We need someone younger to fight back. Joe Biden must step aside.
