According to a spokesman for Dickstein Shapiro, Hastert “will be providing strategic counseling to our clients.” According to the firm’s website, those clients include “the government of Turkey in connection with the development and financing by private sponsors of the Baku-Ceyhan oil pipeline and TransCaspian gas pipeline spanning from the Caspian Sea to the Mediterranean.”
Interestingly, former FBI translator-turned-whistle-blower Sibel Edmonds has been predicting for over a year that Hastert would soon be taking a position with a lobbying firm involved with Turkey. Edmonds’ heroic efforts to expose high-level bribery, cover-up, and infiltration of our nation’s key intelligence and defense institutions by foreign agents tied to terrorist organizations have been stymied by both the Republican and Democratic leadership in Washington. The government has repeatedly invoked the State Secrets Privilege in her case, not to protect national security, but to conceal ongoing criminal activity in government.
