Add Eskimo kisses to Creepy Joe Biden’s repertoire of unwanted advances to the fairer sex.
Right after a top Democratic woman in Nevada accused the handsy vice president of a behind-the-back ambush, another victim stepped forward to say the Kisser-In-Chief impersonated Nanook of the North at a fundraiser.
Creepy Joe, Accuser No. 2 says, grabbed her and rubbed noses. Like Accuser No. 1, Accuser No. 2 waited years to report the move.
But she did admit that she’s ready for a woman president. Knowing how much support the former vice president would have, perhaps she thought her story might deep-six his candidacy and pave the way for a woman.
But even if she were a Biden supporter, the nasal nudge wouldn’t look any better in this age of the #MeToo accusation.
Schmoozin’ With the Schnoz
The woman detailed Creepy Joe’s unusual move for the Hartford Courant. But Creepy Joe apparently didn’t plant the patented Biden buss. This time, he let his schnozzle do the work. It was a probe with the proboscis.
The unwelcome encounter with Biden’s beak, Amy Lappos told the Courant, occurred during a fundraiser for Representative Jim Himes at a private home in 2009. It wasn’t sexual, she said, but “he did grab me by the head. He put his hand around my neck and pulled me in to rub noses with me. When he was pulling me in, I thought he was going to kiss me on the mouth.”
“I never filed a complaint, to be honest, because he was the vice president. I was a nobody,” she told the newspaper. “There’s absolutely a line of decency. There’s a line of respect. Crossing that line is not grandfatherly. It’s not cultural. It’s not affection. It’s sexism or misogyny.”
Lappos, the Courant reported, published her story on Facebook after Lucy Flores, a former Democratic candidate for lieutenant governor in Nevada who supporter Bernie Sanders in 2016, stepped forward. She said Biden ambushed her from behind during a campaign event in 2014. Biden gave her hair a big sniff, then kissed her on the back of her head.
“Lappos used the pseudonym Alice Paul, the suffragette who championed the 19th Amendment giving women the right to vote and the Equal Rights Amendment, to discuss her exchange with Biden,” the newspaper reported.
Biden did something similar to me at a fundraiser in Greenwich when I was a congressional aide. I’m really disappointed to see this [Facebook] post ask “thoughts” as if the grossness of men invading women’s boundaries to sniff and touch is debatable. And shame on some of the women here excusing this as boys being boys or it’s not as bad as Trump. I can speak from experience when I say it’s an incredibly uncomfortable situation and not at all acceptable. We need to hold our men to the same standards we hold all men.
An attendee at the event said “Joe did nothing inappropriate.”
Biden, the Courant reported, did not respond to the allegation by Appos, but instead reissued the same statement he used in answering claims from Flores: “In my many years on the campaign trail and in public life, I have offered countless handshakes, hugs, expressions of affection, support and comfort. And not once — never — did I believe I acted inappropriately.”
The statement included the usual equalitarian hooey to keep the sisterhood happy.
An Ulterior Motive
Polls show Biden as the favorite among Democrats to take on President Trump in 2020, and given what Lappos admitted to the Courant, the question is whether Lappos is all that upset, or whether she simply has her heart set on a woman. Knocking Biden out would provide a woman with a better chance to win against one of the men who aren’t as popular as Biden.
“If Biden truly supports women and gender equality he would step aside and support one of the many talented and qualified women running,” she told the newspaper. “The same goes for the other men who have thrown their hat in the ring. Women are 52 percent of the population. We are not a minority, we are the majority. It is time we are represented as such. After 45 male presidents it is time we elect a woman.”
In other words, Lappos wants Bernie Sanders, Beto O’Rourke, Cory Booker, and Julian Castro to drop out of the race, too.
So for Lappos, it’s her turn again, no matter who the “her” might be.
