The lefist establishment is channeling Ebenezer Scrooge this year.
While speaking on-air with National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Anthony Fauci, CNN host Jake Tapper gave his opinion that Americans will not be able to celebrate Christmas together this year due to the “dangers” of the coronavirus outbreak.
Fauci told the State of the Union host that a vaccine would be needed to return to a “degree of normality,” while Tapper said Christmas is “not going to be possible.”
“Now, you have already encouraged Americans to consider canceling any Thanksgiving plans that involve visiting with somebody else or having visitors come,” Tapper said to Fauci. “I know a lot of Americans are looking ahead, hoping to make plans for other holidays, such as Christmas. But when do you think Americans will next be able to safely gather together for family events like this?”
Tapper then asked if families won’t be able to gather again until Labor Day 2021 or Thanksgiving 2021, to which Fauci replied that it depends “on a number of factors.”
Chief among those “factors”? Getting as many Americans as possible to take a COVID-19 vaccine. Said Fauci:
For example, we have vaccines now. The first one that came out was highly effective. I anticipate that the second one likely will be comparable. You never can tell until you see the data, but would be comparable. That is great.
But we have to get people to take the vaccine. So, if we get the overwhelming majority of people taking the vaccine, and you have, on the one hand, an effective vaccine, on the other hand, a high degree of uptake of the vaccine, we could start getting things back to relative normal as we get into the second and third quarter of the year, where people can start thinking about doing things that were too dangerous just months ago.
But we have got to put all of those things together, Jake. We can’t just wish it happening. We have got to get the vaccine, it has got to be deployed, and we can’t abandon fundamental public health measures.
You can approach a degree of normality, while still doing some fundamental public health things that synergize with the vaccine to get us back to normal.
“So, not until the second or third quarter of 2021, though? Christmas is probably not going to be possible,” replied Tapper.
Fauci appeared to agree with the CNN talking head’s assessment, answering “Yes, I’m — well, I think that, if we get most of the country vaccinated in the second, third quarter of the year, and the vaccine continues to prove its efficacy, and people adhere to those fundamental measures, I think we can start approaching the degree — it’s not going to be a light switch, Jake.”
The NIAID head added that “We are not going to turn it on and off, going from where we are to completely normal. It’s going to be a gradual accrual of more normality as the weeks and the months go by, as we get well into 2021.”
Thanksgiving and Christmas may not be allowed, but Democrat parties and Black Lives Matter rallies certainly are.
It’s clear now to anyone with an inkling of awareness that these stay-at-home policies have nothing to do with public health (otherwise they would apply to all gatherings, not just the ones Democrats don’t like) but with targeting the activities and institutions disliked by the Left.
Leftists don’t want us celebrating Thanksgiving because it fosters patriotism, gratitude, a knowledge of history, and strong family ties. Therefore, it must be canceled.
Leftists don’t want us celebrating Christmas because their agenda is at its core an anti-Christian one. Therefore, December 25 must be canceled.
From shutting down churches to enabling the mail-in voting that likely facilitated enough voter fraud to swing an election, the effects of the “pandemic” have conveniently always favored the Left while attacking the cause of constitutionalism, freedom, faith, and family.
Additionally, the COVID-related cancel culture also has the effect of prolonging citizens’ fear and longing for a return to normal life, which makes them more susceptible to urging that they receive the vaccine.
If Democrats, the globalists, and the media are so determined that you take their shot, then you know it can’t be trusted.
