Don’t expect to see this on CNN.
Despite being painted by the mainstream media as a Trump supporter, a man recently charged with “violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds” by the Justice Department has been revealed to have previously taken part in left-wing climate-change protests.
Jake Angeli made headlines for his eye-catching appearance at the Capitol, donning a horned fur headdress and war paint in red, white, and blue. The mainstream media has dubbed him a “Qanon shaman.”
Angeli was described by AZCentral in September of 2019 as one of “hundreds march[ing] in Arizona in solidarity with climate strikes around the world.” The outlet even captured three photographs of Angeli at the climate protest.
One of the captions accompanying the images of Angeli reads: “Jake Angeli, shamanic practitioner, leads the crowd in a yell before the march in solidarity with climate activism groups across the country to the Arizona State Capitol Building Friday, September 20, 2019.”
“Jake Angeli marches from the Maricopa County Courthouse to the Arizona State Capitol on Friday, September 20, 2019, to demand action on climate change,” reads another image caption.
One of the photographs depicts Angeli standing next to a sign that says “the ice caps are melting.”
The protests Angeli participated in were part of a climate-change campaign linked to Swedish activist Greta Thunberg, where “millions of youths around the world” protested to encourage governments to “do more to combat climate change — and do it faster.”
An organizer of the demonstrations detailed the effort’s aims in an op-ed at CNN. “On Friday, we’re striking for a Green New Deal; for the immediate cessation of fossil-fuel projects on sovereign indigenous land; for environmental justice; for the protection and restoration of nature; and for sustainable agriculture,” the op-ed reads, adding,“It’s time to panic, and it’s time to fight.”
According to Vox, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), a Democratic-Socialist who supports the radical Green New Deal, offered “high-fives” to those engaged in the protests Angeli was a part of.
Additionally, the parent organization of the demonstrations, Strike With Us, is allied with several radical left-wing groups, such as Black Lives Matter Greater NY, Women’s March, Progressive Democrats of America, New Progressive Alliance, and MoveOn.
Mainstream-media outlets have often neglected this aspect of Angeli’s activism past, opting instead to characterize him as a Trump supporter.
For example, the Washington Post described Angeli in the following terms:
“He described himself as a QAnon digital warrior, a shaman and ordained minister, a published author and former YouTube personality and, above all, a huge fan of President Trump.”
CNN notes Angeli’s presence at pro-Trump events in Maricopa County, Arizona, but conveniently omits mentioning his climate activism in the same county.
In a tense 30-minute phone call, President Trump reportedly told House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) that last week’s tumult at the Capitol was the work of “Antifa people.”
It’s possible that there was indeed an effort by agents provocateur to break the law in order to discredit the objection to the Electoral College results, justify a crackdown on conservative speech, and launch an impeachment of President Trump.
Footage from the event appears to show that Capitol Hill police opened the gates to allow protesters in and escorted them to the Capitol Building.
The New York Post, citing a law-enforcement source, reported on two known Antifa members who were seen spotted among the multitude.
The paper noted, “The Antifa members disguised themselves with pro-Trump clothing to join in the DC rioting, said the sources, who spotted the infiltrators while monitoring video coverage from the Capitol.”
“The infiltrators were recognized due to their participation in New York City demonstrations, and were believed to have joined in the rioting so that Trump would get blamed,” the source told The Post.
Despite this information, mainstream outlets continue to claim that there were no Antifa on Capitol Hill on Wednesday, a talking point even the FBI has regurgitated.
The presence of individuals such as Jake Angeli in D.C last week should be a huge red flag, and it suggests that there was more to the Capitol chaos that meets the eye.
However, establishment news companies are unlikely to delve into the matter further now that they have achieved the desired result of their reporting: The unprecedented second impeachment of an American president, with the ultimate goal of prohibiting him from running again in 2024.
