President Joe Biden and his lady sidekick, Vice President Kamala Harris, told two lies yesterday when they signed the ridiculous COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act, which calls for grants to fight such COVID-inspired crimes and data collection to count them.
Harris stepped to the microphone to lie first. The murder of eight Asians in Atlanta, Georgia, on March 16 was just one among many anti-Asian hate crimes, she said. She also lied by omission, and didn’t divulge who is committing most anti-Asian hate crimes.
Then came Biden, whose lie was worse: America is not a particular place, with a particular religion or language, founded by a particular people of a certain race and ethnicity. It’s just an idea.
That would come as news to the settlers and pioneers who built the country. That aside, the 78-year-old president has apparently taken up rewriting the country’s history … at least when he’s not playing Mah Jong and Bingo at the nation’s most high-security, taxpayer-subsidized nursing home.
Harris, Georgia Shooting
Harris, who calls Indians — meaning Bombay Indians who live on the other side of the planet — “our people,” opened the signing ceremony. Asians, she said in so many words, are under siege because they are blamed for the China Virus. Hate is everywhere.
“Around this time last year, when I was in the Senate, Senator Hirono and Senator Duckworth and I introduced a resolution in the United States Senate condemning the rise of anti-Asian sentiment in our country,” she began:
At that time, more than 1,100 anti-Asian hate incidents had been reported since the start of the pandemic. Today, that number is more than 6,600. And I’m talking about incidents where businesses are being vandalized in our biggest cities and in our smallest towns. I’m talking about a 61-year-old man getting kicked in the head. Two elderly women being stabbed while waiting for the bus. Eight people in Atlanta getting shot on a Tuesday night. This violence, it did not come from nowhere. And none of it is new. In my life, my lived experience, I have seen how hate can pervade our communities.
Harris neglected to say that the suspect accused of mauling the 61-year-old Chinese immigrant is black, as is the suspect in the stabbing of the two women. Indeed, she neglected to say that young black men are the most likely perpetrators of anti-Asian hate crimes, as The New American has reported.
As for the shooting at the massage parlor in Atlanta, FBI Director Christopher Wray was clear. Federal agents found no racial motive in the attack, and the shooter, Robert Aaron Long, told police he shot and killed eight Asians, six of them women, because he is addicted to sex. The massage parlor, he said, was a temptation. Regardless, the hate-crimes bill names the victims and ascribes Long’s crimes to anti-Asian hatred.
Harris’ omissions, of course, leave the false impression that “white supremacy” and “systemic [white] racism” are behind the anti-Asian attacks.
Biden’s Fib
Yet Biden’s remarks, which included the neoconservative “America-is-an-idea” myth, are the more troubling.
“We’re good and decent people,” he said in declaring his pride about the bill. True enough, but he didn’t stop there:
We’re unique among all nations in that we are uniquely a product of a document, not an ethnicity, not a religion, not a geography, of a document.
And think about this, I’m being literal, uniquely a product of a document. It says, “We hold these truths to be self-evident that all men and women are created equal, endowed by their creator with certain inalienable rights, including life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”
That is utterly false, and Biden knows it. The United States is “uniquely the product” of predominantly English, but also Irish, Scottish, French, German, and Spanish settlers. All the men who wrote and signed the Declaration of Independence and Constitution were English.
Thus, those “documents” are “uniquely the product” of Christian Englishmen, whose understanding of the law and their rights was rooted in the Magna Carta, another “document” that was “uniquely the product” of England.
Founding Father John Jay explained what was “unique” about the new nation very clearly:
With equal pleasure I have as often taken notice, that Providence has been pleased to give this one connected country, to one united people; a people descended from the same ancestors, speaking the same language, professing the same religion, attached to the same principles of government, very similar in their manners and customs, and who, by their joint counsels, arms and efforts, fighting side by side throughout a long and bloody war, have nobly established their general Liberty and Independence.
Then again, if Jay was right, the Great Replacement — making whites a minority and permanently altering the demographics of the United States — that Biden is abetting with open borders, is difficult to justify.
