Barack Obama Is Bringing Disease to America

With a southern border so unguarded that even a federal bulletin has warned that it may be the source of an imminent terrorist attack, there is strong suspicion that another threat has crossed it: disease.

News stories have appeared recently about a strange outbreak across the Midwest of Enterovirus D68 (EV-D68), which is related to the common cold but causes severe respiratory illness. The disease has sent a multitude of children to the hospital, with some requiring treatment in intensive-care units. And while the Center for Disease Control (CDC) is blaming the outbreak on “seasonal allergies” and the school year’s start, many critics are asking an obvious question: Is it a coincidence that this outbreak occurred right after the Obama administration allowed tens of thousands of illegal-alien minors to cross our border and then shipped them all over the United States?

And this thesis seems ever more valid with reports that the federal government has coerced schools into accepting possibly sick illegal-alien children. Writes the Daily Caller’s Eric Owens, “The Obama administration has not subjected a large number of these children to proper medical screening processes. Instead, the federal government has sent the unaccompanied minors to various U.S. locations to live with relatives or, in some cases, to live as foster wards. The children then enroll in local, taxpayer-funded public schools with no questions asked — by law.” Professor of medicine at New York University’s Langone Medical Center Dr. Marc Siegel warned about this as far back as July, writing in Slate, “As many as 50,000 children, mostly from Central American countries … are not being detained for the purpose of identifying illness, with Immigration and Customs Enforcement relying on self-report of symptoms, and many have already been sent to other states, where disease can spread.”

So has south-of-the-border disease already spread? While ABC News Chief Health and Medical Editor Dr. Richard Besser has said that we “have no idea why it [EV-D68] showed up this year,” others have a very definite idea. They point out that Besser also said, “Viruses don’t tend to respect [state] borders”; this is true because people can freely travel among states (as they should be able to). But is it any different if people can freely travel across international borders, as they should not be able to? Will disease respect the southern border any more than trespassing illegals or open-borders Obama?

Theorizing about this on his Monday show, radio giant Rush Limbaugh said, “Obama will not tell anybody where all of the children that have crossed the border in the last four months have been relocated to.… They were processed real quickly. Gotten in, gotten out and they’ve been distributed all over the country.… Does this sweeping mysterious virus that’s multiplying across the Midwest, does it have anything to do with that or not?”

Joining him was fellow host Michael Savage, who, among his many credentials, boasts a Ph.D. in epidemiology and authorship of almost 20 books on health and nutrition. Not mincing words, Savage said, reports WND.com:

This population in America, which once enjoyed the greatest health on earth, is now being devolved into a second-world nation in terms of health because Obama is so corrupt, was so ignorant, was so evil….

Instead of stopping disease spread, they’re [health officials and doctors] encouraging it by not speaking out against bringing in infected children and putting them in our public schools, right?… What do you expect to happen if you put a kid with a certain virus into a school where they’ve never been exposed to that virus? It’s called an epidemic breakout.

And this is common in history. It’s well known that American Indians were ravaged by diseases such as smallpox, which were carried by European settlers and for which the Indians had no natural immunity. In earlier times, the bubonic plague came to medieval Europe from Asia, became known as the dreaded “Black Death,” and wiped out approximately one-third of the continent’s population.

As for more recent history, Savage also said, “For 20 years, I’ve been trying to warn America about the unscreened immigrants being brought in. Now, of course, it’s coming home to roost and the American people are being lied to by the Centers for Disease Transmission. They used to be the CDC; they’re now the CDT.” Savage’s passion is understandable. Years ago he penned a book about the link between illegal aliens and disease entitled Immigrants and Epidemics, but despite his credentials could not get a publisher. The reason? Political correctness.

And the coverup continues. Savage pointed out on his radio show yesterday that it would be very easy to identify the source of EV-D68: Simply determine the strain of the virus and see if it’s the same one afflicting people in, let’s say, Honduras. Yet despite the fact that the disease already affects residents in Missouri, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio, and Oklahoma — and is expected to spread to all 50 states — authorities show no interest in such investigation.

In fact, the coverup effort has been so intense that the government has actually threatened to arrest health-care workers who revealed the truth about diseases at illegal-alien detention centers. As The New American reported in July citing Fox News’ Todd Starnes:

Starnes reports, “‘There were several of us who wanted to talk about the camps, but the agents [working for the federal government] made it clear we would be arrested,’ a psychiatric counselor told me. ‘We were under orders not to say anything.’” And what could be said?

The counselor reports that measles, chicken pox, strep throat, lice, and scabies are pandemic in the camp; moreover, she warns that many of the children and young people have severe psychological and emotional problems.

Yet it gets even worse. A former camp nurse told Starnes that the facility was being inundated with migrants to an extent where it was impossible to control the disease. The nurse “became especially alarmed because their files indicated the children had been transported to Lackland on domestic charter buses and airplanes,” writes Starnes. In other words, there likely were no measures taken to prevent infestation because the carriers didn’t know about the scabies bugs and lice the children were carrying. Consequently, Americans traveling on those buses and airplanes now may pick the parasites up — and spread them to others.

Yet scabies and lice are the least of our problems. Experts say that Chagas Disease, leprosy, malaria, and other illnesses historically rare in the US are becoming more prevalent because of Third World immigration. Dr. Siegel warns that “drug-resistant tuberculosis also appears to have spread, with several counties in southern Texas reporting twice the usual average number of cases.” He continues, “Dengue fever, a potentially deadly mosquito-borne disease … has been detected this year in southern Texas for the first time since 2005. Illegal immigrants, possibly from Mexico, are a likely source. If infected mosquitoes begin to breed here, we could see more outbreaks.”

Even more distressingly, CNN is reporting today that there may be a lot more victims of the dreaded Ebola virus “being evacuated to the United States than we are being told about.” Vice president of Phoenix Air Group, an air ambulance service working for the State Department, said that his company has transported “a lot of people who have been exposed.” True to federal form, however, he would not reveal how many.

And the southern border remains wide open, owing, say critics, to an effort at de facto amnesty and a desire for Hispanic votes. But how many fewer native-born voters we’ll have in the future due to illegals bringing in diseases is something that, like so many other things, cannot be revealed.
