Steven Bonta is Executive Senior Editor at The New American magazine. He has been a contributor to The New American since the 1990s, and has contributed hundreds of print and online articles over that time. He holds an MA in linguistics from Brigham Young University and a PhD from Cornell, also in linguistics. For many years, he taught linguistics, English, and Spanish at Cornell and Penn State University, and has also taught online with Grand Canyon University. More recently, he has taught high school in Arizona and China. He has lived in several countries, including Argentina, India, Sri Lanka, and China, and speaks a number of foreign languages, such as Spanish, French, and Chinese.
