On the heels of several New York sheriffs announcing they won’t be enforcing their state’s Thanksgiving restrictions comes a similar police nullification effort 3,000 miles away:
Every sheriff in the Los Angeles region has stated that he will not enforce California Governor Gavin Newsom’s newly imposed COVID-19-oriented curfew.
Newsom announced the curfew on Thursday, and it began Saturday night “at 10:00 p.m., and will run from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. for a month,” reports Breitbart. “It will apply to ‘purple’ tier counties, which include nearly the entire state of California.”
It won’t apply to all “purple” counties, however, as the tweet below from reporter Bill Melugin informs.
For Newsom’s part, he can turn purple stamping his foot, but his dictates command no respect for a simple reason: He recently just nuked whatever was left of his credibility — and not just by locking down a state over a virus whose mortality rate mirrors the flu’s.
He also “was caught and exposed flouting his own ridiculous strictures on eating in restaurants (put your mask back on between bites of food),” as commentator Thomas Lifson reminds us. “Public exposure of his mask-less attendance at a party full of lobbyists at one of the fanciest restaurants in the world with no social distancing was bad enough. But his subsequent lying, smirking non-apology apology may well be the death knell for his political career.”
Add to this that Newsom has shut down government schools — meaning, poor and middle-class students must stay home — while announcing that his own children resumed classes at their private school in Sacramento, and the Golden State gov appears a gold-plated hypocrite.
Making it worse still is that Newsom, like other statist leaders, is preaching “Follow the science!” while flouting it. The Centers for Disease Control tells us that the survival rate for people 0 to 19 years old who contract coronavirus is 99.997 percent, and a study out of Newcastle University in London found that the flu is at least twice as deadly as COVID is to children under 10. The proof is in the pudding, too:
Only two individuals under 18 have thus far died of the virus in all of California (a state of 40 million people), according to commentator Tucker Carlson. So why perpetuate the illusion it’s dangerous to youth and close schools that stayed open during deadly flu seasons? (Why? Manipulative teachers’ unions come to mind.)
Speaking of scientific obscurantism brings us back to Newsom’s curfew, which was instituted “apparently on the belief that the virus wakes up and goes out at 10 P.M.,” quips Lifson. It’s all ridiculous enough to remind one of Voltaire’s famous saying, “Those who can make you believe absurdities, can make you commit atrocities.”
And whatever the motivation behind them, China virus regulations are by and large absurdities. Is it any wonder, then, that those preaching them don’t actually practice them?
It’s not just Newsom having a birthday party for a lobbyist at an über-exclusive restaurant, either, the hypocrisy of which was perfectly illustrated by the below tweeter.
It’s also that he has much company in being “phonier than a vegan at a steakhouse,” as ex-Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee put it. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.); Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.); Chicago mayor Lori Lightfoot (D); New York Governor Andrew Cuomo (D) and his brother, commentator Chris Cuomo (D-CNN); and news reporters and crew have all been caught unmasked when they thought no one was looking. These are, of course, the very people peddling Branch Covidian panic porn and, often, sanctimoniously lecturing us about COVID Ritual rectitude.
As for Newsom, he has been so unmasked that there’s now even, in left-wing California, a recall effort against him. Organizers need to collect 1,495,709 signatures by March 17, 2021 and currently have 494,000. (They should talk to the Dominion voting-machine company and learn how to triple that number in 10 minutes through the miracles of modern science.)
This perhaps reflects how more and more Americans are realizing that we really are in the midst of a “scamdemic” orchestrated by deceitful puppeteers. If these politicians actually believed their own rhetoric, would they “endanger” their lives by going unmasked? The kicker is that Pelosi and Feinstein are both octogenarians and should’ve, in theory, seen a COVID grim reaper. Yet they appeared unmasked and wholly unafraid.
Remember, too, though, that leftists are defined by vice and likely derive a feeling of superiority from ensuring that “laws are only for the little people.” A truly great leader might feel compelled to share his citizenry’s pain and sacrifice. Yet power-mongers — and such people are attracted to politics and are overrepresented within it, especially among leftists — revel in doing the opposite.
For sure, among the many ways to enjoy that feeling of power is to flout rules others have to follow. It’s a way of separating and distinguishing yourself from the masses, of feeling more important and special, of reinforcing in your own mind that you’re part of an elite.
Of course, they’re more effete than elite, and more and more police and citizens are now showing them, via an object lesson, that their tyrannical dictates are no more special than they are.
