That didn’t take long.
The day after he endorsed a candidate for Congress who would legalize bestiality, socialist presidential candidate Bernie Sanders (shown) withdrew the nod.
So maybe, just maybe, at least one sexual perversion is too much for the Democrat candidates for president.
Losing the Soviet apologist’s endorsement was Cenk Uygur, an immigrant from Turkey who founded the Young Turks left-wing Internet gabfest. Uygur is running for the U.S. House of Representatives from California’s 25th District.
The seat is open because the last representative, Katie Hill, resigned after her sexual behavior, which included threesomes with her husband and campaign staffer, went public.
Odd Situation
Sanders had to bail on Uygur largely thanks to the work of a Democrat, M. Mendoza Ferrer. Last month, she tweeted clips of Uygur’s off-the-wall commentary about sex and women.
On Thursday, Sanders endorsed the mad Turk without reservation. Uygur “has spent his entire life fighting for justice and the needs of working people in our country,” Sanders said.
Uygur hasn’t spent “his entire life” doing any such thing, but Sanders went on: “I’m endorsing Cenk because I know he will serve ordinary people, not powerful special interests. He is a voice that we desperately need in Congress and will be a great representative for CA-25 and the country.”
Then came the news Uygur not only doesn’t think much of women but also thinks a little too much about the lower orders in Kingdom Animalia.
“I believe that if I were the benevolent dictator of the world, I would legalize bestiality where you are giving, you are pleasuring the animal,” he said in 2013.
That, and a long history of degrading comments about women went viral yet again, and so on Friday, Sanders disavowed Uygur, who in turn said he wouldn’t accept endorsements.
“Our movement is bigger than any one person,” Sanders explained. “I hear my grass roots supporters who were frustrated and understand their concerns. Cenk today said he is rejecting all endorsements for his campaign, and I retract my endorsement.”
“I want to be free of any influence other than the voters of CA-25,” Uygur tweeted. “I will not be beholden to corporations, lobbyists, or special interest groups and I will not stand by while those groups attack my political allies. That’s why I have decided that I will not be accepting any endorsements.”
“My job is to represent the voters and the voters alone. The only endorsements I’ll be accepting going forward is that of the voters of CA-25.”
Crazy Candidates
Bad as Uygur is, Sanders has had his own problems with past remarks. Aside from his well-known record as an apologist for communist tyrants, in 1972, he claimed that women fantasize about being gang raped.
“A woman enjoys intercourse with her man — as she fantasizes being raped by 3 men simultaneously,” Sanders wrote in an essay titled “Man-and Woman.’’
The man who made his first wife live in a maple sugar shack with a dirt floor also suggested that newspaper readers get a sexual thrill when they read stories about child rape: “Do you know why the newspaper with the articles like, ‘Girl, 12, raped by 14 men’ sell so well?” he asked. “To what in us are they appealing?’’
Sanders apologized for those musings a month after announcing his ill-fated run for the Democrat nomination in April 2015.
He has not apologized for siding with America’s communist enemies during the Cold War.
The other Democrat candidates for president have problems in the past.
Leading contender Joe Biden has a long history of kissing and grabbing women and, as vice president, forced Ukraine to fire a prosecutor who was investigating a company that employed his son Hunter. Biden offered a quid pro quo: Fire the prosecutor, and Ukraine will receive $1 billion in loan guarantees.
Elizabeth Warren falsely claimed to be a Cherokee Indian, which invited months of ridicule and earned her several nicknames such as Lieawatha and Hiataxa. Warren also stole recipes from the New York Times and contributed them to a Cherokee cookbook.
Beto O’Rourke, who dropped out of the race, fantasized about murdering children in his younger years and had a brief but unsuccessful career as a burglar.
Another failed candidate, Kamala Harris, faced questions about the source of her political success because she served in several positions under the flamboyant, former speaker of the California House of Representatives, Willie Brown.
She also confessed to smoking pot and “did inhale.”
