One would operate against the customary domestic crime and would honor American civil liberties, he proposed, but the other would be a “small but very aggressive anti-terrorism agency with extraordinary ability to eavesdrop.” He ended his response to his questioner by expressing fear of some “kind of attack that would lead us to favor a dictatorship for security.”

In GOP nominee John McCain’s search for a running mate, the name of Newt Gingrich will likely be considered. Perhaps his suggestion that it would be good for the nation to endure a reminder terrorist attack will disqualify the ex-Speaker for consideration.
