Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has announced more changes to Facebook policy last week, because “protect[ing] our democracy” is a vital role for the head of one of the largest data-harvesting companies on earth. We should all be glad that Zuckerberg cares so much for our country.
A few days before Zuckerberg announced the changes to Facebook, he announced that he and his wife, Pricilla Chan, are planning to donate $300 million to “two non-partisan organizations” — the Center for Tech and Civic Life and the Center for Election Innovation & Research — to “help ensure a secure election process amid the Covid-19 pandemic.”
The claim “non-partisan” is highly dubious considering the Center for Tech and Civic Life partners with the Knight Foundation, Rock the Vote, and the Rockefeller Foundation, along with other globalist-funded agencies. The Center for Democracy and Technology has been funded by the George Soros’ Open Society Foundations and the Ford Foundation.
Alluding to the Democratic Party talking point of the “Red Mirage” that will show a Trump win on election night but a Biden win when all the mail-in ballots are finally counted, Zuckerberg states, “With our nation so divided and election results potentially taking days or even weeks to be finalized, there could be an increased risk of civil unrest across the country.”
His plans include:
• “Block new political and issue ads during the final week of the campaign.”
• “Extend our work with election officials to remove misinformation about voting.”
• “Reduce the risk of misinformation and harmful content going viral by limiting forwarding on Messenger.”
• “We’re expanding our voter suppression policies.”
• “We’re putting in place rules against using threats related to Covid-19 to discourage voting.”
• “We’re partnering with Reuters and the National Election Pool to provide authoritative information about election results.”
• “We will attach an informational label to content that seeks to delegitimize the outcome of the election or discuss the legitimacy of voting methods.”
• “We’ll enforce our violence and harm policies more broadly by expanding our definition of high-risk people to include election officials.”
• “We’ve already strengthened our enforcement against militias, conspiracy networks like QAnon, and other groups that could be used to organize violence or civil unrest in the period after the elections. We have already removed thousands of these groups and removed even more from being included in our recommendations and search results. We will continue to ramp up enforcement against these groups over the coming weeks.”
His final statement should give us complete assurance of an impartial Facebook: “I believe our democracy is strong enough to withstand this challenge and deliver a free and fair election — even if it takes time for every vote to be counted. We all have a part to play in making sure that the democratic process works, and that every voter can make their voice heard where it matters most — at the ballot box.”
The push to delegitimize the initial election results should come as no surprise to readers of The New American. The Left is busy promoting a “Trump is going to steal the election” scenario to discredit a Trump victory in November while busily working to steal the election for Biden.
A Rolling Stone article on Zuckerberg’s policy changes is a typical example of the Left’s smear campaign against Trump.
Though Facebook spent billions to beef up security, the spread of misinformation has exploded. “I would say we’re in a worse place because the amount of domestic misinformation is much more serious than what we saw in the lead-up to 2016,” Claire Wardle, executive director of misinformation nonprofit First Draft, recently told Rolling Stone.
Of course, First Draft is funded by many of the same groups that fund the Center for Tech and Civic Life and the Center for Election Innovation & Research.
Rolling Stone goes on to say that Facebook’s “independent network of fact-checkers” unanimously agreed that Trump “falsely” accused Biden of trying to bribe Ukraine.
The infamous “independent network of fact-checkers” that Facebook uses includes a company called Lead Stories, which is run from Belgium and almost entirely staffed by former CNN employees.
