The Theory of “Lockdownism,” Repudiated by the Facts

“Lockdownism” — the idea that shutting down economies through mandated closures, social distancing, masking, etc. would halt (or at least arrest) the spread of COVID-19 — has devastated communities around the globe. Conducting solid research on the impacts of shutdowns, the group Lockdown Resistance has concluded that implementation

Has pulled 580 million people worldwide below the poverty level;

Has resulted in 130 million people facing starvation;

Caused a quarter of the world’s population to face a mental health crisis; and

Has resulted in the loss of $3.7 trillion in lost wages in 2020 alone.

Lockdowns haven’t worked. And people are awakening to that fact.

Jeff Tucker, an economics writer of the Austrian School and editorial director of the American Institute for Economic Research (AIER), doesn’t call “lockdownism” a conspiracy but explains that there was a conspiracy behind the closing of countries worldwide:

As best anyone can tell, the idea of locking down [the economy] when faced with a new virus emerged in the U.S. and the U.K. around 2005-2006.

It started with a small group of fanatics who … posited that they could manage a virus by dictating people’s behavior: how closely they stood next to each other, where they traveled, what events they attended, where they sat and for how long.

They pushed the idea of closures and restrictions, which they branded “nonpharmaceutical interventions”…

What they proposed was medieval in practice but [promoted through] a veneer of computer science and epidemiology.

They succeeded “because people who believed in them became dominant in the world of [science] … [prominent] enough to override and banish traditional principles of public health.”

The theory of “lockdownism,” wrote Tucker, contains the seeds of its own destruction, based on ideas and promises that cannot be kept. The lockdowns have had little if any measurable impact on the spread of COVID, argues Tucker.

“This promise,” he wrote, “will … be their [the “fanatics”] undoing.”

In their rush to remake the world, this “small group of fanatics,” as termed by Tucker, have bet the farm on lockdowns working and thus gaining them more and more power. Yet a failure of the lockdowns to deliver on that promise has exposed the fraud of both the shutdowns and of the “fanatics” themselves. The king is naked after all.

Consider these inconvenient facts: Michigan, which locked down early on, after the first cases of coronavirus were detected in the States in March 2020, has greater virus prevalence than neighboring Wisconsin, which remained open. Texas, which has been free of all COVID restrictions for the past six weeks, has seen COVID cases and death counts fall dramatically.

Meanwhile, closed California has an equal amount of COVID death rates as open Florida.

Tucker explained: “AIER has assembled 33 case studies from all over the world showing this to be true … [that] the presence or absence of lockdowns in the face of the virus seem completely unrelated with any disease trajectory.”

That’s how an economist explains the lie.

And the truth is devastating to the lie’s promoters:

This is devastating because the scientists who pushed lockdowns [Fauci et al] had made specific … predictions. This was probably their biggest mistake.

We know for sure that the lockdowns imposed astonishing collateral damage.

What we do not see is any relationship between lockdowns and disease outcomes.

The king indeed is naked.

Consider COVID data from USAFacts.org on Florida, Texas, and Georgia, where herd immunity has taken its course as a result of the states not shutting down. Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis’s political career is now in the ascendancy, with his candidacy for the 2024 presidency gaining credibility daily.

Contrast DeSantis’s rising star with the spiraling political careers of Democratic leaders, such as New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, California Governor Gavin Newsom, and Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer.

Once the façade of these leaders’ draconian restrictions is exposed, the American people will have to reckon with how they bought the lie and have been made fools of, all owing to a small group of government leaders and medical “experts” who thought they could use the virus as a cover for their now-exposed plan for advancing global tyranny.

It was a bridge too far for the globalists.
