The “Twitter Files” that CEO Elon Musk released through journalist Matt Taibbi don’t tell us much we don’t already know; i.e., that the leftist social media giant suppressed the Hunter Biden laptop story to protect Joe Biden’s presidential campaign.

But Taibbi does drill into the details about Twitter’s role in spreading disinformation about the laptop. That disinformation was the claim that the laptop was “Russia disinformation,” a claim that Biden and the leftist mainstream media repeated despite knowing the truth.

When Biden’s handlers said “jump,” Twitter’s trained poodles barked “how high?”

“Handled These”

“The ‘Twitter Files’ tell an incredible story from inside one of the world’s largest and most influential social media platforms,” Taibbi wrote. “It is a Frankensteinian tale of a human-built mechanism grown out [of] the control of its designer.”

Twitter was a “brilliant tool” for mass communication, but soon, Taibbi continued, it became a weapon to deplatform anyone who failed to follow the “rules.”

“Celebrities and unknowns alike could be removed or reviewed at the behest of a political party,” and while “both parties had access” to the tools to request removing tweets, Twitter ideologues favored one party over the other.

Imagine which one.

“In 2020, requests from both the Trump White House and the Biden campaign were received and honored,” Taibbi continued:

However:

This system wasn’t balanced. It was based on contacts. Because Twitter was and is overwhelmingly staffed by people of one political orientation, there were more channels, more ways to complain, open to the left (well, Democrats) than the right.

The resulting slant in content moderation decisions is visible in the documents you’re about to read. However, it’s also the assessment of multiple current and former high-level executives.

Thus did Twitter shut down any discussion of the laptop, which showed not only that Hunter Biden was a drug-addled sex pervert, but also that his old man lied when said he knew nothing of Hunter’s global business activities. An email showed that Hunter introduced a Ukrainian businessman to his father in 2015, when he was still vice president.

“Twitter took extraordinary steps to suppress the story, removing links and posting warnings that it may be ‘unsafe,’” Taibbi continued:

They even blocked its transmission via direct message, a tool hitherto reserved for extreme cases, e.g. child pornography.…

The decision was made at the highest levels of the company, but without the knowledge of CEO Jack Dorsey, with former head of legal, policy and trust Vijaya Gadde playing a key role.

“They just freelanced it,” is how one former employee characterized the decision. “Hacking was the excuse, but within a few hours, pretty much everyone realized that wasn’t going to hold. But no one had the guts to reverse it.”

One example of how much control the Biden regime had over Twitter’s leftist drones appears in an email.

“More to review from the Biden team,” one Twitter exec wrote to another on October 24, 2020. The note included links to five tweets. “Handled these,” came the reply.

“I’ve pulled web archives of 3 of these tweets,” the Washington Free Beacon’s Andrew Kerr replied to Taibbi:

All three are homemade Hunter Biden porn and … pics pulled from his laptop.

These tweets don’t contain any info on Hunter’s business dealings. Just porn.

Can’t immediately find archives of the other 2 tweets

Real News, Fake News

Again, Taibbi’s revelations aren’t all that shocking, although they do elaborate on how Twitter’s leftists suppressed the laptop story. Like the Deep State and leftist mainstream media, they feared it would derail Biden’s campaign.

At the time, then-CEO Jack Dorsey apologized for suppressing the story.

Problem was, Twitter’s pro-Biden activists labeled a true story as “disinformation” even as they permitted fake news to rocket across the platform.

Back then, conservative commentator Steve Sailer asked the right questions.

“Have you ever censored news articles referring to the ‘murder’ or ‘killing’ by the police of fentanyl abuser George Floyd, when neither has been proved in a court of law and autopsies suggest neither is likely?” Sailer tweeted:

If not, why not?

How many tweets did you blithely transmit promoting the lies that Michael Brown at Ferguson said “Hands up, don’t shoot” or that George Zimmerman was white?

How many stores therefore have been looted and building[s] burned in part due to your activities?

Floyd, of course, died of a fentanyl overdose.

Even today, Twitter permits users to call Kyle Rittenhouse a “murderer.” A year ago, a jury acquitted Rittenhouse of murder charges for defending himself against a child rapist, a convicted strangler, and two other dangerous criminals during 2020’s Blake Hoax Riots in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
