In what is being referred to as a mutiny within the ranks of the House GOP over the passage of the $1.2 trillion spending bill, Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) has filed a motion to vacate House Speaker Mike Johnson, which could lead to a vote to remove him.

Green said of the motion, “I filed a motion to vacate today, but it’s more of a warning than a pink slip.” “I do not wish to inflict pain on our conference and throw the House in chaos, but this is basically a warning,” she told reporters at the Capitol.

Less than half of House Republicans voted to pass the spending package, taking issue with several components of the bill as well as the $1.2 trillion price tag.

Representative Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) said the bill was “chock full of crap,” and urge Speaker Johnson, “Doggone it, fight it!… This is capitulation, this is surrender.”

Representative Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) cautioned against trying to oust Johnson, claiming that many Republicans would not support such a move and the House could end up with Democrat Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) as the new speaker instead.
