Arizona has once again flexed its federalist muscle in defense of its state's rights against a federal government weak on immigration. Acknowledging that the federal government will not perform its constitutional and legal duty to defend the borders of the United States against the onslaught of foreign invasion — the constant influx of immigrants illegally entering the United States — the Grand Canyon State, under the stalwart leadership of Republican Governor Jan Brewer, has taken numerous steps toward safeguarding the border it shares with Mexico.

A new report from the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) National Center for Health Statistics shows that over a 10-year period, the use of antidepressants has skyrocketed across the United States by a staggering 400 percent — as the numbers of those diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder (the clinical name for depression) and anxiety disorders has dramatically increased.

mitt romneyA recent investigation uncovered evidence that senior officials in the Obama administration unabashedly used the landmark healthcare bill of former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney (left) as the prototype for the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2009, popularly referred to as ObamaCare.

In a move that  surprised most establishment conservatives, Republican Presidential Primary Candidate Newt Gingrich announced on Sunday his support for the individual healthcare mandate, which is a central aspect of federal universal healthcare legislation (ObamaCare).

Florida capitolThe Florida State Senate on March 16 achieved a significant milestone on behalf of those who oppose the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Health Care Act (a.k.a. ObamaCare) as unconstitutional, draconian, and an infringement on states' rights. The Senate quickly passed a proposed amendment to the Florida state Constitution known as the "Health Care Freedom Act." If the amendment is also passed by the House, it would be placed on the ballot next year, and if it is then approved by a three-fifths majority, it would become part of the Florida Constitution. The amendment would allow any person or employer to opt out of the ObamaCare mandates for purchasing or providing healthcare coverage.

FDA to Limit Acetaminophen in Pain-Killers

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced yesterday that it will limit the active pain-reducing ingredient in the pain medications Percocet and Vicodin.

The White House announced that once again, the United States would be reevaluating its defense partnership with the Republic of China on Taiwan. The administration decided last month that the arms package it would be selling to Taipei would be sorely reduced; the Pentagon has chosen not to sell Taiwan 66 late-model F-16 aircraft, a deal potentially valued at over $8 billion, after years of debate over whether to supply the free Chinese island with advanced strike aircraft to upgrade its aging air force. Instead, administration and congressional officials said the new arms package will include weapons and equipment to upgrade its existing F-16 jets, worth about $4.2 billion.

American troops are once again becoming embroiled in another international conflict, this time in the beleaguered East African nation Uganda. In response to the ongoing conflict there between the Ugandan government and rebels associated with the Lord’s Resistance Army, President Barack Obama announced earlier this week that 100 soldiers would support the years-long fight against the Lord’s Resistance Army, which is accused of horrific atrocities. The Obama administration said the troops will advise, not engage in combat, unless forced to defend themselves.

In a break with America’s conventional policy on the matter, the Obama administration announced earlier this week that it would once again be siding with Argentina, this time in the dispute between the UK and Argentina over the Falkland Islands. By default, Obama has sided against Britain in the ongoing conflict over the island chain at the center of a 1982 war.

In a move one British conservative analyst called "hugely insulting to Britain," the Organization of American States earlier this week adopted a declaration calling for negotiations between the United Kingdom and Argentina over the "sovereignty" of the Falkland Islands. While the U.S. delegation did not speak in support of the measure, it ultimately joined a consensus adopting it.
