Swiss Vote to Deport Foreign Criminals

Over the course of centuries, Switzerland has developed a reputation as a place of sanctuary for dissidents and refugees from oppression. The recent decision by voters in Oklahoma to ban Islamic Sharia law from the courtrooms of their state has already been met with a legal challenge and a federal restraining order, setting in motion a court battle which will necessarily involve a protracted discussion of the role of Sharia law in the life of Muslims.
As debate continues in the United States over the impact of illegal immigration on the economy, crime, and the future course of American culture, the nations of Europe have formulated a response of their own: “Halt! Arrest! Arresto!” In any language, that is not a response that sits very well with so-called progressives, who always love someone else’s culture more than they love their own.
