The Founding Fathers provided in the Constitution for a count each 10 years of the number of people in our country. Citizens of the United States are free to move from state to state, choosing which part of our nation seems best to them. The results of that decennial census will help the Republican Party and hurt the Democrat Party.

Is America destined to move from a two party system to a three or four party system? Is it moving towards a political system without political parties at all? The Huffington Post, with its predictable attack on the putative �Far Right,� with special venom reserved for the John Birch Society, suggests that the rise of the Tea Party has produced an attack from the Right on the Republican Party which may � with the Left disillusioned with Obama � lead to four political parties.

Government rules by command and not consent. The marketplace represents the rational valuation of things based upon mutual consent. Because the power of the state is a “jealous god,” when ordinary people try to create some sort of private protection against the caprice of politicians, government usually comes back with a lash. We see this in a number of ways these days.

The New York Times has long maintained a pseudo-aristocratic attitude toward American society. Its nicely manicured contents, which seem to ooze respectability, hide the fact that its history is one of betrayal of the truth.

The Constitution explicitly prohibits titles of nobility. Members of government in America were intended to be citizens and not rulers. The last thing our Founding Fathers wanted was a class of Americans who were legally special and elevated. One of the noblest of the many fine character qualities of George Washington was his humility — he relinquished power. He was, perhaps, the first commanding general of a revolutionary government who quietly set aside his vast potential power to go home — to Mount Vernon.

John Mica, a Republican congressman from Florida, has written a letter to 100 of the busiest airports in the country. Congressman Mica has asked those airports to stop using the federal Transportation Security Administration (TSA) for airport security and to use, instead, private firms. Federal law allows airports to make their own arrangements for security, and one major airport, San Francisco International Airport, already does that.

BBVA Bancomer Research has produced a study that indicates that since Arizona enacted Senate Bill 1070, which provides for state law enforcement officers to enforce federal immigration laws, that the Hispanic population of Arizona has dropped by about 100,000 people.

The food-stamp program has grown dramatically during the last few years. The latest figures show that an incredible 42 million Americans are receiving food stamps — about 14 percent of the entire national population. Within the last year, the number of households receiving food stamps has jumped from 16.2 million to 19.4 million. Since July 2007, participation in the food-stamp program has increased almost exponentially — a 50-percent growth in just three years.

TexasFred, a conservative blogger, reports that West Tawakoni Mayor Pete Yoho has fired Officer Johnny Beckett from the city’s police department and also suspended for ten days without pay Police Chief Jack Schultz, after which he will be terminated. The offense alleged is that the two officers belong the Tawakoni Area Tea Party. West Tawakoni is a small town in eastern Texas with a population of about 1,500 people. In Hunt County, where West Tawakoni is located, Barack Obama received less than 30 percent of the vote in the 2008 general election, about the same percentage that John Kerry received in the 2004 general election, and a little less than the 32 percent of the vote which Al Gore received in the 2000 election.

The ideologically motivated termination of Juan Williams by National Public Radio has drawn ire from many Americans. Government-owned, government-sponsored, and government-regulated media will almost always create an inclination to genuflect to the opinions of those who run government — which will over time blossom into full-blown kowtows to the powers of state. What has happened to Juan Williams is simply one example of what Americans see in PBS and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
